How to remove pen ink from fridge?

Hi all,

We use the side of our fridge as a white board for my 3yo DS to draw on.

Bought some new white board pens this week and the blue isn't coming off! It's clearly not whiteboard ink as the other colours are all fine.

No idea therefore what sort of ink it is - normal felt tip? Permanent marker? Who knows!

Any ideas what will remove it? The cleanish splodge is antibac hand gel which helped a bit but it's not 100% working

personally, I'd leave it. It would bring a smile to me in later years as he grows up.

As a pp has said, go over it with wipeable marker and rub off together. It's an old teacher whiteboard trick and works every time.

Another vote for nail varnish remover. My DS drew black Sharpie all over white cupboard doors when he was younger. I phoned the installer and he recommended nail varnish remover. Worked a treat and no damage done

Essentially you need a solvent which is why the alcohol handgel partly worked. just be careful of abrasives as they can leave dull areas in the fridge which you then notice for years! If all else fails you can buy appliance spray paint.

We managed to get sharpie off our brand new kitchen worktop by going over with a white board marker and wiping off

I did an experiment and it looks like nail polish remover is going to work. Thank all, will update once it's done!

I should have said "be most effective" as the dry wiper marker over the top clearly also works! Just don't want to waster the rest of the pen ink as it's over such a big area.
