What is this bloody pink/orange stuff in my shower?

We have two bathrooms - one is an en suite and this is where we have the problem.

Anyway, we have a large shower you step into and pull across the door. And it keeps getting this pinky orangey 'stuff' along the seal of the door, corner of the shower and a little on the tiles. Why?

We have a proper water softener plumbed in

The house is only 5 years old

We have no mould anywhere and the bathroom is very well ventilated and not allowed to get steamy. We don't have limescale

I spray Method shower cleaner on it regularly and clean three times a week in there anyway - and like I said, this doesn't happen in the other bathroom

Sooooo.... what is it?!

I didn’t know it was mould. I thought it was residue from the soap and shampoo. I just use Method bathroom clean and use a toothbrush and it comes off.

We've had this issue too and we've managed to get on top of it using mould remover (I spray it onto my flat mop and rub the tiles then rinse, as it's stinky stuff and really toxic). Make sure you air the room and use your extractor fan. You could also get a squeege to make your your tiles are dry after a shower and you should get rid of it.

I have also gone silicone free (for other reasons) with my shampoo/conditioner so that could also be a factor.

We've the same on the grouting in our shower.

I used one of those Magic Sponges last week and with barely any effort the pink has gone!

We clean every week but nee rule is whoever is last in the shower rinses all walls then used the squeegee to get water off walls and screen.

That was a week ago and it's still looking pretty good.

Worth a go?
