How to get rid of smell of white spirits from clothes?

DH got some gloss paint on a new hoodie so doused it in white spirits to try get rid of the paint but now, despite running it through the washing machine twice, it still stinks of white spirits. What can be done? Any advice much appreciated!
Plus the paint is still there so any advice on that welcome too

Hang it outside on the line (doesn't matter if it rains on it or it's freezing) until you can't smell it any more (might be a day or two), then wash it. Works every time.
