Washing line pegs

Oldie67 · 07/07/2020 12:39

Ok I am male and retired. I help my wife a bit with the washing , but when she puts washing on the line she uses pegs of different colours to peg it on the line. I really don't like this and have been known to alter the pegs so they match. I always use matching coloured pegs if hanging up the washing on the line. Is it just me.??. I hope not. I am off to buy a supply of matching pegs so its never a problem again...

I dont really care about colours tbh although mine are only yellow or green

MrsCherryBakewell · 07/07/2020 12:45

So good of you to 'help your wife' with the washing. Hmm

pickingdaisies · 07/07/2020 12:52

Now now, mrscherrybakewell, let's try encouragement first! Grin
Oldie, I have several different types of pegs, and it pains me if I have to use odd pegs. But they are all different colours, so I'm not able to reach the giddy heights of colour matching. But when it comes to stacking the dishwasher, it's like a silent war in this house.

SoupDragon · 07/07/2020 12:53

😂😂 If the sexes had been reversed, it would have all been "LTB!" for the sheer horror of using mismatched pegs.

EasilyDelighted · 07/07/2020 12:54

Get wooden ones.

Foxinsocks1 · 07/07/2020 12:57

I don’t mind about the colours but they need to be the same kind of peg on an item.

JaJaDingDong · 07/07/2020 13:03

I don't care about the pegs, but I need to use the same number of lines on each of the 4 sides of the rotary washing line.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 07/07/2020 13:08

My pegs, washing line and pole thingy are all the same colour 😬
Mint green

tinatsarina · 07/07/2020 13:28

I like to match the pegs I have red, green and wooden so it's two green two red then when they run out I use the wooden ones

mommybear1 · 07/07/2020 13:30

Hegs pegs are the best if you can get them and they come in a lovely orange colour or green I'd say you could mix and match but that defeats the purpose of your thread 🤣

UltimateWednesday · 07/07/2020 13:33

"Get wooden ones" Nooooo they mark the clothes.

OP I hope you're going to do your research before buying these matching pegs. You could be lost in the internet for days Grin

EasilyDelighted · 07/07/2020 13:42

I've never had marks from wooden ones, they're all I've ever used.

I never realised how difficult it was to write anything before realising that someone would inevitably add a touch of sarcasm..😊😊😊😊😊

Wooden pegs are a no no, they get dirty and mark the washing. I think I am going to buy 3 or 4 sets of coloured pegs as you can only buy them in sets of three colours. Then I will have three different sets all in different colours. Should keep me happy for months.!

At least this thread has caused some mirth, even if its at my expense!

How do wooden pegs get dirty any more than plastic ones?

cakeandchampagne · 07/07/2020 18:31

Discuss this with your wife. She might appreciate your artistic eye, and put you in complete charge of all laundry. Smile

TW2013 · 07/07/2020 18:37

Buy stainless steel pegs. I have multicoloured ones which wouldn't help you, but they look nice. Why don't you just say that you will always hang the washing out and then you do it your way rather than going around after her and changing what she has done?

TW2013 · 07/07/2020 18:38

That's what I do, any job which is criticised becomes their job if they can do it better. You might end up doing more than you bargained for!

nancybotwinbloom · 07/07/2020 18:40

I went to Ikea yesterday. Queued for an hour. Then it rained half way round.

Saw some pegs that I grabbed on the way round, got home. They are not pegs they are the clips that seal crisp etc packets together when you don't finish the pack.

I have 60 of them. I will swap you some for some pegs.

Permanantlypuzzled · 07/07/2020 18:58

When dgs 3 “helps” to hang out washing his job (self appointed) is to pass me the pegs. We have to use all of one coloured peg before we can move to another colour.
The job can often take over an hour
He’s very thorough.

Knittedfairies · 07/07/2020 19:03

I have to match coloured pegs too. (I was once in a group of 4 women who were talking about this; three of us do it, the fourth thought we had lost the plot.)

So pleased to here I am not alone, it must be my artistic side, though I am devoid of it otherwise.

Minky all the way!

GU24Mum · 07/07/2020 23:16

I find it almost impossible not to re-peg the clothes if someone else hangs something with a non-matching set of pegs!

Times10 · 08/07/2020 07:33

We bought new pegs recently, so now we have 4 different types and colours in our bag. I was hanging the washing up using whatever pegs I grabbed the other day and thought of the horror it would have induced on MN Grin.
Hanging washing takes long enough without worrying if pegs match!

Mmmmycorona · 08/07/2020 07:40

What?! Who has time to worry about what pegs hang the washing out.
