Replacement water filters for american fridge freezers - is is necessary to get the real thing? (sorry for dull thread)

You seem to be able to get compatible ones for a tenner but the real thing is 40+ quid

What do the rest of you do?

I would try the cheap one.

If you want the 'real' thing, shop around as I seem to remember Amazon had them for about half the price of Currys when I last needed one.

How do I change it too? A little man did it for me when it was put in. I am clueless

Wheel fridge out and disconnect old one then reconnect new one. Also remember to throw away the first 6 pints of water and first 3 lots of ice cubes.
