Cordless vacuums: if I like the Athlet, what else is there?

I’m going to look like a vacuum nerd here, which is ironic when you look around my bombsite of a house.

I need a new cordless vacuum for hard floors, to keep permanently in the kitchen for quick clean ups. We already have an ancient handheld Dyson but it’s not great for large areas, and I want a vacuum that can stand on its own. I’ve had a GTech (too noisy) and a Bosch Athlet, which I loved but wasn’t super powerful and died a couple of months ago.

Any other cordless, freestanding vacuums I should consider before I get another Athlet? I did look at a Shark eons ago but didn’t really “get” it.

Thanks in advance Smile

Following with interest I also have a Bosch and it's just not picking up I'm really tempted to a shark anti wrap cordless .......

I’ve just got the anti wrap shark, twin battery one. It’s amazing. It has headlights!

It was to replace the cordless Dyson, which was a big old bag of shite.

@Eminybob is it free standing though? The cordless Sharks I saw weren’t? Thank you

We have a shark duo anti hair wrap now and hands down best hoover I've ever had makes our dyson look like someone made it in there garage.

Lots of love for the Shark!

Thing is I don’t necessarily need an amazing hoover, just something that’s good for running over hard floors every day. Having a freestanding one in the corner of the kitchen is so easy. I’ve got a corded Vorwerk for when I have the energy to do a “proper” clean of the upstairs carpets.

Wow I think I'm convinced to a Shark cordless Grin

Shark duo-clean cordless (lift-away). It's amazing. I wanted something small and light for going over hard floors downstairs, but it's equally good on carpets upstairs and kind of pulls you along! The lift-away function is great for the stairs and the car as you've only got the cylinder to carry.

I can do the whole house on one battery, and it's a big old house. I got 2 batteries, which I would really recommend, as it's so easy to just replace for next time. The headlights, which initially I thought were a bit gimmicky, are brilliant for dark corners.

Honestly, after lugging a heavy Dyson around for years, I wouldn't gave anything else now.

The shark folds in the middle and is freestanding when like that.

Ah now you’re talking!

Shark duo convert here we have the cordless version.
I was really dubious about buying this as hadn't had much luck with previous cordless makes but this is amazing 3 bedroom house wooden floors throughout and a hairy dog this does an amazing job :)
The battery lasts easily and is easy too empty plus it folds in the middle for storage and so you can push it under things to clean.
Get one you won't be disappointed
