Adulting question- car insurance and tax

At the start of lockdown I declared my car SORN and cancelled the insurance to save some money, since both my husband and I are off work, we've just been using the other cheaper-to-run car to use between us.

We've now finally got a completion date for moving house in a few weeks. I'll obviously need to drive my SORN car to the new house, about 20 mins but it's the bigger car, so would be handy having it officially 'on road' to do a few trips back and forth. Saying I decide to use tax and insure it and leave it as it is (my husband will hopefully be going back to work soon anyway), would I have to pay an admin fee for changing the address on my insurance literally the day after?

How do the 14 day cancellation periods work for insurance? Could I take a policy out and cancel it, then take out a new one once I'm at my new address?

I'd rather do things by the book as getting fined (or worse) is the last thing we need, but would also really be begrudged to pay a £50 admin fee on top of my insurance.

You might be better looking at temp insurance?

Wouldn't you just ensure it at the new address from the day you have occupation rights? Then use it for trips and to move. Do you need to use it before you gave occupation rights at the new house?

not all insurers charge admin fees. Speak to yours to see what they can do.
