Hi, I was looking for an effective de-greaser type cleaner that you can use to get any stain out of anything. In the US, they rave about something called "Greased Lightning" which you can use as everything from a laundry detergent to get oil stains out of clothes, to a cleaner to get sticky residues off sofas to an oven cleaner! It's way too expensive to get shipped over here but it's main ingredient is 2-Butoxyethanol, which is a type of Glycol. Is there anything equivalent in the UK? What do you use as your go-to de-greaser cleaner that you can use on clothing and fabric?

De solv it stain remover pre wash spray stuff might be similar to what you are talking about

What have you been doing OP Confused

I’m imagine you killing your husband with a fountain pen and then dousing the body in petrol before setting it alight to get rid of the evidence.

Elbow Grease spray does all of the above. It’s usually cheap in shops like B&M.

@Reginabambina Hahahaha! How did you know? Actually, I'm just looking to get a few different stains out of laundry, mostly grease and oil-based, but when I read about that Greased Lightning stuff I thought it would be cool to find an all-purpose degreaser.

I have this. It removes sticky stuff as well as stains. I still use washing up liquid first

Blood - dissolve salt in cold water, soak, wash

mudskippa · 31/03/2020 12:27

@FaithInfinity My cleaner swears by this stuff for literally everything (No, I'm not posh, just have a disability so can't manage the whole house anymore). I never realised you could use it on clothes. I have a bottle downstairs and will try it on one of the stains and see how it shapes up :)

I agree with pp who said washing up liquid. Give it a good run into the stain and bung it in the wash as normal. Hasn't failed me yet. Occasionally have to do it twice

Sticky Stuff Remover. I use washing up liquid on oily stains though, but the SSR is good for getting off really stuck on labels etc.
