Foxes and bin bags... how to stop the b*ggers tearing to shreds?

Is there anything (that won't kill them) that I stick in the bin bag to put off the foxes/cats etc from ripping them open overnight?

( there is a limited amount of food produce in the bin - but they still insist on checking)

Put the bin bags in a wheelie bin?

no wheelie bins here, they have to be left out in black sacks.
We usually do it in morning but sometimes (if away etc) have to leave overnight.

my mum used to put something like shake n vac powder over her black bags and swore it stopped the foxes
