We’re still here.

After 10 threads my house still isn't tidy!

So join me and a lovely group of mumsnetters who simply get rid of one thing a day and report back. Gradually we’re developing good habits, reorganising ourselves, often improving our mental health and having friendly chatter along the way.

So newbies are welcome, just check in with your news and join in the general chat about recycling, organisation and housework.

ALSO many of us have set a target to get rid of 2020 items this year and will report on that.

Girls, I've been a bit crap lately. So sorry.

I have done a few bits though!

  • I've finished decorating a bedroom. (Kind of. I'm not happy with it but I think it'll do for now. It definitely looks much better anyway.) I've also touched up a few other bits.
  • I've potted up 2 planters which were previously full of weeds and recycled quite a few plant pots.
  • We also did lots of weeding in the garden, followed by a tip run with many sacks of garden rubbish.
  • I've been, very slowly, going through a box (the same one as before) and I've thrown another wad of papers out tonight. (So so hard.)
  • I've thrown out about 4 good jars and another 4 boxes! (This was also tough for me.)
  • I caught myself washing an empty black pepper refill pot, 'in case it was useful for something'. That went out too.
  • I sold a gadget and used the money to treat us to ice creams on one of our walks! (The first ice cream of the year so very much appreciated!)
  • I've organised a few more storage boxes for the kitchen cupboards. We've always had quite a few vitamin bottles etc knocking about but they (and some others bits) are all organised now.
  • I've got another couple of things advertised for sale/free.

I've also been trying to organise DP to do certain things but it's so slow!! I got a load of old, family videos converted to discs and he's taking an age to go through them all and check he's happy with them. I just want the bloody tapes out of the house as it's another box which could go. Currently, they're spread over 3 rooms - tapes and discs now - and he's not entirely sure which he's checked and which he hasn't. I JUST WANT THEM OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!

@StealthNinjaMum lovejunk.com is a good one for a bulky item that cannot be reused and needs to be recycled, I used it a few times in London. This is a good list! Thanks for putting it together.
