I just googled spatchcock. It seems to involve removing a chickens backbone and flattening it before cooking. [yuk]

Have I mentioned I'm veggie?

Nope It doesn't do it on mine!
Thanks for googling spatchcock...didn't think of that!
That sounds like a lot of faff to cook a chicken...is it nice GO ?

LOL @ your double posting jas maybe you are just meant to repeat yourself

\\\hmmm I only have a backslash too

We've had a busy day with a quick clean up this morning and then friends to play this afternoon.
Once the friends left I (foolishly) decided to take the kids to do the weekly shop - big mistake, we were all way too tired and grumpy! At least it's done now though. I'm trying to clear my time tomorrow so we can go to the Oxford MN meet-up

Oh, and we sold our car today too We can now get on and buy the new (to us) one we want

I'm very tired so will probably be off for a bath and an early night.
See you all tomorrow x

Evening all.
Finally got all the school uniform shopping done! think we looked in every shop possible for DD1 and DS1's shoes. Ended up in the 1st one we looked in . Cost me a small fortune! But at least its done. Mine go back on tuesday . DD1 is looking forward to starting school and DD2 is looking forward to starting 2 mornings at pre-school soon.

School hols seem to have flown by. i don't want them to go back.

tortoise · 28/08/2007 20:12

x posts shouldbe. Glad your car sold. You are brave going to a meet up . Have fun.

scattyspice · 28/08/2007 20:28

Have done well today. Bought some storage for DHs clutter in the bedroom (hope he gets the hint).

Discovered DS starts school on Tues not Mon good job I checked (would have looked bad taking him in a day early for his first day at school!)

grouchyoscar · 28/08/2007 21:24

Spatchcocking is easy...turn bird onto breast and press down then cut out the backbone by running a sharp knife down each side or with big scissors. Chuck in the stock pot pile. Then turn the chicken over and lay out in the roasting tin. No real faff tbh. The idea is to get a large a surface area as possible so it roasts in under an hour.

It was sticky and scrummy and even DH got out of bed for it!

So Since the last post I've

Sweep and mop bathroom floor
Loaded and run DW
Empted and put away
Made tea
Harvested Ed's carrots (had some for tea)
Re loaded Dw
S&S worktops
Shine sink
Lay table
Tea
Tidy away
Load and run WM
Have bath
S&S bathroom
Read Ed a story
Take him to bed
Tidy and put away HUGE pile of clothes on bedroom floor
Sort out ironing pile
Flop into bed

So I'll say night all and catch you Thursday. Happy spatchcocking (great for barbques y'know...Nigella Bites has the details if interested)

shouldbe · 28/08/2007 22:32

Well done with the school shopping tort. Not sure I am brave enough for the meet up yet...have to get myself there and then meet people I don't know - scarey stuff! I'm hoping to feel brave enough go though

Only just about to get to bed now - later than I'd planned!
See you all tomorrow x

Jas · 28/08/2007 22:35

I don't do meat cooking which involves me touching it, GO so no spatchcocking here. At least I've learnt something new today

How was the holiday tortoise?

I'm off to bed now see you all tomorrow.

Jas · 28/08/2007 22:38

@ scatty spice . You wouldn't be the only one turning up a day early. Someone always does it.

Mine go back on Tuesday too. I think we've had a succesful holidays this year. Lots of nice activities, very little tv, and all that in the rain.
Thyey are looking forward to going back now. Luckilythey are enjoying kids club this week so it is easy for me.
