Just that really, is it OK or do I have to buy dishwasher salt separately?

Thanks it's just that I have water softener salt but no dishwasher salt in the house so was wondering if I could substitute as a once off.

I would just run it without salt until you get the proper stuff

We're in the middle of a move so we have a million other things going on. It has said it's run out of salt for a while and I'd be keen to know if water softener salt can be used as a substitute more generally. Couldn't find details online one or other.

if your dishwasher is connected to your water softener & it's doing it's job properly you shouldn't need salt anyway. I never add it to mine, in fact when I do the dishes come out with a horrible cloudy film on them
