I am wondering whether it's time to replace my silver cleaning cloths. They are both use to clean the outside and joints of my flute, probably once a month or so to get handprints off the outside. Had a bit of a musical hiatus the last few years but I'm back in the game now, so having a sort out.
Advice online says it's hard to know for sure when a polish cloth is "done" as they last for ages. On the larger (used to be a minty blue, now grey) cloth I'm getting a bit of bobbling but not much. The yellow is wearing a bit thin maybe but no bobbling. It is/was impregnated with cleaning stuff so apparently I can't wash it (?)
I'm loathe to chuck them out if they're still useful but I am really prone to hanging into things long after any sensible person would have shown them the door, so I'd love some advice who doesn't get emotional when they get rid of things that are "past it". I've had the yellow cloth for almost 20 years, and the grey for about 10.
