I saw this on the DM
To get stuck on burnt bits off oven trays or dishes soak in fabric conditioner - I used Comfort.
It worked a treat.

If baking pavlova use a "magic oven liner" you've cut to size. The pavlova just peels off.
No baking dish required.
Or use a silicone cake mould.

Have you any great hack ?

@rwalker-warm or cold iron?

Meckity1 · 16/06/2019 20:03

I never found cola worked in our loo, nor denture tablets, which is why I use the white vinegar. Cola works in encrusted pans and so does bio washing powder - BUT NOT ON ALUMINIUM. Washing powder turns aluminium black. I'm sure you can guess how I found that out.

thewreckofthehesperus · 16/06/2019 20:09

Cola never worked in the loo for me either. Black harpic all the way!

Pgjp129 · 16/06/2019 20:45

@chilledteacher warm so be careful of your fingers

bobstersmum · 16/06/2019 21:00

I have literally just discovered elbow grease spray. My cooker hood was grim I must admit. I sprayed it on and it just wiped straight off with no mess! I've done my bathroom with it this afternoon and it is so sparkly. It gets the kids crayon and felt tip off the table. Gloss paint off the wood floor. Not good to breathe in though.

DontCallMeShitley · 16/06/2019 21:15

Soda crystals spray to get muck off hob and glass oven doors.
Bicarb and white vinegar also removes greasy gunk, and you can watch it fizz.

WD40 to remove sticky labels.

White vinegar to remove limescale on taps and sinks. I have little thing called a Limey that I fill with vinegar and hang on the end of the tap, otherwise I use soaked kitchen roll and cover in a plastic bag or clingfilm, leave overnight.

DontCallMeShitley · 16/06/2019 21:16

Dental floss to clean round knobs on hob.

UniversallyUnchallenged · 16/06/2019 21:22

If you can’t get windows sparkling (no smears)...
this is the product you need. It is amazing, hot water - clean, rinse, wring, dry the window. Think it’s something to do with the ‘bobbly’ bits. Utterly amazing

That cola thing never worked for me, I ended up with a toilet 10 times browner afterwards! ...same here!

Another vote for Harpic in the black bottle. Squirt it around the bowl, leave for half an hour or so, scrub with a brush below the waterline, leave again for as long as possible then flush

LindaLa · 16/06/2019 21:24

Baby wipes on leather furniture and leather shoes.

WD40 to get rid of ants. Find the nest and spray, doesn't kill them but does make them unable to make nest so they move on.

Mammajay · 16/06/2019 21:24

The only thing I found works on stained loo pan is to bail out the water, then squirt 100% limescale remover on and use an old dishwashing brush the rher b around it, then flush

Mammajay · 16/06/2019 21:27

What cleans the burnt on stuff on gas hob rings?? Any ideas please?

disneyspendingmoney · 16/06/2019 21:46

The enamel plate that goes in top of the ring I've used oven cleaner, whenever I've done the oven.

The actual burners in my stove is aluminium, so I've used carbon off and a Brillo pad

Bobbiepin · 16/06/2019 22:10

Well the pepsi is in the toilet so I'l let you know how it goes! If it winds up worse then at least I have a few back up ideas to go to. Thanks!

beanaseireann · 17/06/2019 00:25

Thank you

I tried pepsi twice, it helped but not fully white, just bits off the sides. Black harpic is on the shopping list.

craftymadam · 19/06/2019 22:21

Loving these suggestions. Does anyone have any ideas for cleaning out an iron? We live in a very hard water area & I only use water filtered by my kettle first in the iron. But recently my iron has been spitting out bits of black & grey grit which I presume is limescale. Any idea how to clean the iron out?

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 19/06/2019 22:30

Try mixing citric acid from Wilkos with warm water and switching iron on, face down on a towel.

Someaddedsugar · 19/06/2019 22:34

Does anyone have any tips to clean an electric hob - I’ve tried shop-bought hob cleaner but it isn’t getting everything off if that makes sense - it’s like there are water marks or something from when a pan has boiled over.

GoGoJo · 19/06/2019 22:43

Fold your duvet, sheets and pillowcases into a pillow case from the set when they come out the wash and you will always be able to find a complete set.

Gingerkittykat · 19/06/2019 23:12

I don't see why coke would work better on a toilet than cheap bleach if it is just the acid that matters, bleach left overnight or before I go out for the day always sorts toilet nastiness out.

I don't live in a limescale area so maybe that is why?

rwalker · 21/06/2019 18:41

hot iron for paracetamol

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 21/06/2019 18:45

Have lower standards.

There is a happy medium between sterile and hovel.
