Why am unable to make decisions re: decor, furnishings doing up house?

House will always look tired and shabby with hand me down furniture as I am unable to bite the bullet and order something.

Oh Flum, you sound like my mother. She's been talking about buying new furniture for her front room since 1998.

What are you trying to choose? Want to sound us out? (Not saying I'm an expert but always happy to share an opinion!)

Choose just one thing for one room.Go for a lamp or something not too expensive.Then work your way up from there.It is really hard to get started-I know,because 2 years down the line,we still hadn't even finished one room in our house.I found that I got a kind of mindblock because our house was so bland that there was nothing to work with to start me off,but once I got a fireplace in,it kind of flowed from there.Good luck.
