Have you got a storage method that has been a game changer?

DH and I are both beginning to lose the plot with our house. It's big, tall and extremely difficult to keep tidy with a toddler and baby and manchild

I am going to try to declutter to a degree but that's not the real issue, it's storage. The house was remodeled by previous owners and they seem to have got rid of every storage cupboard. Confused

Does anyone have any tips, either about what freestanding storage to buy, or how to make the most of existing storage? Kitchen cupboards for example? We have quite a few but definitely suffer from everything being chucked in so it's hard to see what's there...

I don't really know what I'm asking. Just, has anyone managed to keep an overstuffed house full of untidy people under control...?

once you start itll be easier now youre in that declutter mindset. I find with ds non played with stuff a system thats 1) identify object ,2) remove to garage out the way, 3) after a period of time, depending on object donate/ bin/recycle!

another wardrobe declutter thing that works is turn all hangers one way. after use/ washing put back the hanger facing opposite way. after 1 year look at items still not been worn. dump them, cos you obviously didnt like them enough to wear! made me realise i was keeping clothes i never wore!!

Good effort op!! Atleast it was eye opening once you started tackling the dressing room that alot of the things in your way have no actual use anymore.

I find starting a declutter in the bathroom for example a good starting point as any rubbish like used up toiletries etc are easy to discard give it all a clean and it feels like a real difference has been made in a short space of time.
I struggle when it comes to sentimental items or shoes bags etc i have charity shopped quite alot of them over the past few months. Once it getsto these areas my efforts slow down abit as i spend to much time dithering over it all so hoping to be encouraged by your progress :)

The biggest game changer for us was when my hubby, like a champion, made these sliding drawers for that awkward corner cupboard in the kitchen. The one that goes into a corner and you have to normally get everything you own out to find stuff? The front one slides out as seen, and the back one slides across into its place. SO much easier to get at things! It's really hard to show in pics but hopefully you get the gist.

Also these over-shelf racks which I think came from Home Bargains - gives you that bit more room in pan cupboards.
