Oh my god someone help me with my new floor

Got new tiles, much whiter than I thought they would be and I just can't keep them clean. Every day they are filthy. I tried steam mop and normal mop and all I see are shoe and paw prints.

Is there any mop out there that scrubs the floor?

Anyone?

Oh dear! Are they gloss tiles? Can't offer a solution I'm afraid. We went for grey stone tiles that don't show the dirt at all.

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 10/02/2019 20:51

Socks for everyone.
Even the ddogs.
Or noodle cloths tied on!!

ILoveMaxiBondi · 10/02/2019 20:52

Do they have a grain? Unfortunately white tiles will show every single speck of dirt and smudge. You could teach the DC and dog to hover a few inches above the floor?

EdgesWedges · 10/02/2019 20:52

Thanks for the reply! I thought I picked a beige tile but when they went down they are much whiter!

They aren't even the shiny porcelain tiles! God I'm doomed to a lifetime of daily floor washing

@ILoveMaxiBondi I can't even blame them as yesterday after I washed the floor it was my foot prints all over them

You could get everyone to wear slippers inside?

GookledyGobb · 10/02/2019 20:57

Make sure what you’re mopping with isn’t leaving a residue - it’ll grab dirt more and make it stick.
I’m sure there’s a million reasons why I shouldn’t but I use non bio washing liquid diluted with a tiny bit of washing up liquid for our floors. I can tell when they’re mopped with something else as they become slippery for the kids and grimy very quickly. It’s easier to sweep dry dirt that isn’t stuck to the floor than it is to be mopping all the time
Plus a huge doormat

One thing I find handy is my trigger spray mop. It sits in the corner and is always filled with solution so if I see a few smudges I can do a quick swipe over with it rather than having to always boil the kettle and get the mole and bucket out.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 10/02/2019 20:58

mop!

CouldBeAnyoneReally · 10/02/2019 21:01

I’ve recently bought a trigger spray mop and my floor is the cleanest it’s ever been as it’s so easy to use.

JonestheMail · 10/02/2019 21:27

I feel your pain. The previous owners of our house laid white high gloss tiles in the hallway. I have teenagers, dogs and cats...

The only thing which really helps is not looking at the floor when entering or leaving the house.

worriedaf · 10/02/2019 21:30

I’d buy some cool rugs and go for a bohemian look!

SavoyCabbage · 10/02/2019 21:30

I’ve had white tiles in a kitchen before and I agree with Jones, the only way is to not look at them.

DramaAlpaca · 10/02/2019 21:34

I went for white tiles on a bathroom floor & have regretted it ever since as it's impossible to keep them looking clean, so I sympathise.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 10/02/2019 21:34

Simone on MN was recently raving about their Bissell Crosswave which might be what pure after.

I'm in the not looking at them camp though Smile

NomNomNominativeDeterminism · 10/02/2019 21:41

If you ease up on the cleaning, you might find you have grey tiles after all. Perhaps with a fetching rag-roll effect/ abstract paw print pattern.

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 10/02/2019 22:02

These.....

Oh my god someone help me with my new floor
EdgesWedges · 11/02/2019 07:10

Thanks everyone! I actually was looking at them yesterday thinking to myself maybe this dirt could be like a grain/ pattern effect in the tile 🤣🤣

I'll check out the trigger spray mop and the Bissell one. Thanks!

I have high gloss tiles in my bathroom and in my kitchen/family room.
I have used steamers, spray mop and a mop and bucket. The mop in bucket is by far the best. I just use a splash of zoflora. In between I use the spray mop and do my floors every couple of days (I'm fussy)
I had to stop using flash and other cleaners as it left a film on my floors which showed up foot prints etc. I would suggest using less cleaning fluid and see if that makes a difference.
