Miele vacuum cleaner - how long do the bags last/

The Dyson has packed up and I am thinking of getting a Miele. The C3 seems good, but has bags. How long do the bags last, and how easy are they to empty? The last vacuum I had with bags which was ages ago, at least had ones which could be used a good number of times before they dropped to bits.

Otherwise, can someone recommend a bagless Miele? I don't need one which sucks up dog and cat hairs at present, currently being between cats, but might in future.

It's very easy to change the bag, they just push in then pull out again. Mine doesn't need changing very often, every few months (standard amount of vacuuming and dirt in our house, I'd imagine).

Sounds good

I have a miele c1. Compact. It replaced my old miele which i had for 15 years, and loved. Bags on the new one are half the size of the old one. Really annoys me.

Another question - it says the bags are one use only. Is that really the case or can they be used a few times? Do you always use genuine Miele bags or are there others which can be used as a substitute?

I have a Miele and always only use the bags once. It would be pretty messy and hard to get the dirt out of the wee hole! But I do buy cheaper compatible no brand bags.

ShatnersBassoon · 28/01/2019 17:56

I've never reused a bag, but I suppose it would be possible if a bit messy. I buy cheap ones from Wilko instead of the proper Miele ones.

Our C3 bags last about a month, they hold more than the Dyson canister. I buy the cheapest copycat ones on ebay but you do need to make sure they are properly clipped in. They ar easy to remove but I cant see how I'd empty one to re use unless you cut it open.

Thanks, that sounds like a good idea.

Mine last for about two months with excellent suction ad they are very easy to change. Love my miele.

TheQueef · 28/01/2019 18:02

Careful with non branded bags. We've had three that split at the bottom seam.
Saying that ours is an older miele with outrageous suction. It could be that.

Whatdoyouknowwhenyouknownowt · 28/01/2019 18:05

The bags are expensive & mine is always full. I tried cheaper ones but they leaked dust.

Vacuum is fine but thinking I might try a Shark next.

MissMarplesKnitting · 28/01/2019 18:07

I use the Wilko ones or get them off eBay.

A bag lasts 2 months or a bit more, and I vac twice a week with mine.

I've had both and definitely the Miele is the best vacuum. It's so easy (& clean) to change the bags.

Nuggetnokiaboi · 29/07/2019 03:14

You really want to only use official Miele bags and filters despite the fact they are expensive they are worth it because they extend the life of your Miele

The first week I have had my c3 and I love it had to change the bag but my house was extremely dirty, they do puff and fill like a pillow though. To summarise I love my Miele aka Mel and would recommend it to anyone

Just sent my Miele C3 Complete Powerline for repair after 2 years and 5 months. The motor smells strongly of burning. I have been pretty nice to it and only buy the official bags. Not what I expected of this brand. Guarantee was for two years.

We have a Miele compact C2 cat and dog, about 2 years old. Did not have a pet when we bought it but I think that model happened to be on offer, will be getting a long haired kitten soon so will get to try out the turbo brush. It has been brilliant, excellent suction and the hepa filter means the air coming out is lovely and clean. Youngest DC has dust mite allergy asthma and using this vacuum + new bedding means she doesn't need any asthma treatment (only needs inhaler when at other houses). Bag lasts a couple of months.

Mosaic123 · 12/09/2019 13:58

I asked Miele if they had a problem with the model I have as mine has lasted such a short time.
