How do you organise kids art/craft supplies?

I have a cupboard full of craft stuff, it's a complete mess - any suggestions so it's easy for kids to use. They are 6 and nearly 3.

Box it up so paints and brushes are in one box, paper in another, pens in another etc. Could either buy boxes from somewhere like dunelm or use ones you have already (ice cream tubs etc)

Ikea Kallax and see through boxes plus a policy of using things up before getting / keeping the next arty bits. Too much choice is overwhelming for them anyway.

Chuck it all out and leave it to preschool/childminder/planned craft places we may go at the weekend

DS (4 and in reception) has a desk and a set of 8 pull out drawers next to it in his bedroom that is working brilliantly for writing, drawing, stickers and any flat non messy activities. He has his own scissors and glue, stapler and paint sticks in there, along with different colour paper and stickers and stuff. But larger or messier craft stuff isnt happening at the moment as the paints, paper and anything that wont fit in the drawers are stashed in random place in the house and garage.

My DD 10 now has a desk in her room that has drawers full of art stuff but when she was little I kept all her art supplies in labelled storage boxes organized by type - all the paint together, craft paper, stickers, craft sets, craft bits like pipe cleaners and pompoms etc - and then I had a little plastic desktop drawer set with separate drawers for pencils, felt tips, crayons and one for craft stationery (crazy scissors/paint brushes/sharpeners etc). I also used an offcut from an over door shoe organizer stuck on the inside of the door to hold table covers, paint apron, wet wipes etc so that they were easy to access and the place stayed clean.

That way when DD wanted to do crafts she just needed to pull out the specific storage box or plastic drawer and meant tidy up was equally as easy - everything back in the box/drawer and back in the cupboard.

I have a set of drawers from the really useful box people, so the have a drawer for each thing. I have a larger box for paints which lives in a kallax cube.
