Has anyone dyed sofa covers? I just want them to go from tatty navy to dark navy :-)

that's it really, they're very old, we're moving in a year, so don't want new ones, they're child friendly, but looking very faded.
does home dying work?
BTW, they look just like this -

thank you!!

I dyed mine, but we have one terracotta settee and one blue one. My bright idea was to dye them both navy then they would match.

I did the terracotta one first and it came out blotchy and it just looked dirty (I was embarrassed to have it on the line, tbh) so I didn't bother with the blue one.

Bought some throws instead.

That said, it was no hassle and not very expensive, so it's definitely worth a go if you have a back-up plan if it doesn't work.

Dying shabby navy to dark navy should be OK

It is important to follow the direction tho'

Esp if it says to wet the material first

Are you doing it in the bath or the washing machine?

I was planning to use the washing machine - is that a better or worse idea Katymac?

thanks for the heads up re: patchy finish. I'm loathed to start dye stripping etc.. it will take days to finish everything! But if it means it will work really well....

I dyed some green towels a darker green in the machine & it worked really well

They have faded nicely too - they still look all the same colour (iyswim)

I'll risk it then. I have just realised that if it's really horrible (not sure how it could be) I can always start over with the stripping out thing...
thanks everyone!
