I put dishwasher salt in my washing machine instead of soda crystals!! Help!

Decided to do a washing machine clean & mean to put soda crystals in but picked up the dishwasher salt 🤦🏻‍♀️ (Tired mumma with a newborn) does anyone know if this will do any damage? Or just not clean my machine as well as the soda crystals would have?

It's only salt - I wouldn't worry.

It won't hurt your machine, and I suspect it will clean it just as well as soda crystal.

I'm not a chemist, but dishwasher salt is used to soften the water in the dishwasher so that the detergent works better. Soda crystals do exactly the same job in the washing machine. I suspect they're very similar.

If you're worried about it, run an extra rinse after the salty wash to clean things out

Hot wash to dissolve it.
