What products/habits have revolutionised your housekeeping?

I've just bought an E-cloth mop system, and I love it: quick, easy and no clatting about with a mop bucket!

So, do you have any other products/routines that you wish to share?

Re the colour catchers pop them in a laundry bag this helped stop mine going in the filter.

OhWifey · 15/09/2018 16:09

What is so good about micro fibre cloths?

buckingfrolicks · 15/09/2018 16:26

Have just unexpectedly bought a robot vac on the basis of this thread. You folks better be telling the truth!!

Cynderella · 15/09/2018 16:31

OhWifey Mictofibre cloths have an invisible abrasive quality and they seem to attract and track dust and dirt. They also wash well and dry quickly. Unfortunately, I have read quite a bit about how the microfibres cause havoc to sea life when they're washed and so I've stopped using mine.

NormaLouiseBates · 15/09/2018 17:21

@autumn18 Karcher window vac. Absolutely brilliant bit of kit, I wouldn't be without mine now!

Paperdolly · 15/09/2018 18:18

Shower squeegee and screen spray. Never have to clean the shower of limescale or scum since using these.

Before I leave I squeegee and then do a few horizontal lines of spray. Jobs a good un! 👍🏻

@fromtheshires what make is your cordless Hoover? I want one!

Hullabalooo · 27/09/2018 09:01

@slimmingmumof1 where so you get pink stuff from?

Hullabalooo · 27/09/2018 09:04

Can someone recommend where to get oven liners from?

Justmuddlingalong · 27/09/2018 09:10

These washing line clips. They're brilliant for hanging dresses etc out, even when it's blowing a hoolie.
And this garlic press. I use it all the time.

fromtheshires · 27/09/2018 09:29

Its a Gtech K9. I wouldnt be without it and its mich better than a dyson

Cynderella · 27/09/2018 09:30

Quality oven liners from Lakeland. Others probably available - if you wipe them regularly, you can probably get away with less robust liners.

peanutbutter310 · 27/09/2018 09:46

My robot vacuum - game changing!

CarolinePooter · 28/09/2018 16:26

Carbona reusable colour catchers are the size and thickness of a small terry flannel. I've been using one for months. It went a bit pink for the first wash, but is still working! I stopped buying the teeny papery ones after the manufacturers added a nasty "fragrance" (just why??). Carbona is sold by Lakeland and Amazon UK.

GummyGoddess · 28/09/2018 17:12

Someone asked about a microwavable sponge to kill germs? You can get silicone scourer things and then chuck in the washing machine or dishwasher.

dudsville · 28/09/2018 17:20

I've got these e-cloths that are kind of sponge shaped. Over the course of my life I've owned countless mops and two of them steam mops, and one of those was a fancy pants one. Nothing does my floors quicker or better than me doing them by hand with this e-cloth. Granted this will not be everyone's cup of tea but I loathe the day I won't physically be able to do this.

My game changer was realising that I could have a vacuum on each floor and a handheld for the stairs... as opposed to one that I lug about.

Madcats · 28/09/2018 19:40

I have a really bad feeling I am going to finish the weekend with a new vacuum/handheld. We get through industrial quantities of magic sponges (they have been fine on paintwork, but I am gentle on walls).

DD is sporty so demolishes snacks like flapjacks etc. Non stick greaseproof is a gamechanger! Non stick foil is brilliant too (just line tins/trays), but it does mess with cooking times.

Paperdolly · 29/09/2018 21:58

I was a great fan of the GTec K9 but just lately it's let me down over a couple of things. 😔. I won't be buying another GTec even after all the great feedback I gave! It didn't last long enough for the money I'm afraid.

buckeejit · 29/09/2018 22:53

Love the coat hanger driers-ordering those. We're always struggling for space & bought a welly rack which we put up today & I love it. One less thing for inside space 😁

Justmuddlingalong · 30/09/2018 07:43

Meant to say, the Lakeland coat hanger washing line clips fit the Ikea octopus underwear hangers.

FairyPenguin · 06/10/2018 15:53

I’ve just ordered pan scrapers and toaster tongs. As well as hair catcher, bathroom caddy and other things I didn’t realise I needed...

buckingfrolicks · 10/10/2018 19:15

Just to say I adore ADORE my new robot hoover, Trundly. Thanks thread posters!

AllGoodDogs · 14/10/2018 20:08

Glass / tile scraper! Bought one this weekend from B&Q to use on my hob (thick old grease that I've been chipping away at for weeks with pink stuff, cif, brillo pads etc to no avail) and it just sliced it right off! Did wonders inside the oven too. It's essentially a razor blade in a handle.

Also microfiber cloths and mop, though I do feel guilty about the fibres from them.

buckeejit · 14/10/2018 20:31

Don't know if anyone's said instapot but it's fab!

Seafoodeatit · 14/10/2018 20:37

to those saying bissell vac and steam - which one? there are loads!
