September fledgling roll call: Ready, Set, FLY....

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/09/2018 08:25

Yes this is the bonkers back to school thread. We welcome you to jump aboard for the ride. We are following the Fly lady system for taming the chaos (can't have anyone over syndrome). We are at various levels and there is NO obligation to follow it to the letter (we've installed a bar in the naughty corner for hanging out and relaxing when needed)

4 levels for flying:
Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks
Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

So ground rules, yes ground rules it is September:

  1. Newbies - we are a long running but friendly bunch. We try not to seem clicky but it doesn't always come across as some of us have known each other on here for a long time, just join the chatter and you'll soon be a fledgling
  2. There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

Linkies will be posted daily and will appear shortly. Until then, jump on board, enjoy the ride and there are still hammocks, sand, comfy seats, cushions, blankies and a full English on the naughty corner bar it is a Saturday morning, breakfast is earnt

Hope lil zoo’s finger is feeling a bit better! How annoying re PE kit foxes. I presume someone’s checked lost property? If you have a school Facebook / WhatsApp group it might be worth posting on there in case someone went home with it by mistake? Unlikely I know if they have not even done PE yet.

Ta da:-
Car in for service
Went to gym
Tried to prep for difficult work day tomorrow but not much that can be done except get on with it tomorrow now I think
DD1 asleep
DD2 is at least in bed although not asleep
Nice ready meal planned for tonight
Laundry situation not too bad

Big wing flaps to all

Spreadingcudweed · 25/09/2018 20:52

Foxes I used to get best results by ever so humbly without hint of blame asking teacher if I could go in and search for list item myself during quiet moment, and then spend wild five mins looking under benches, checking all pegs, looking in obscure corners ...usually worked! Also, once found, are you allowed to embroider your dd's initials in huge letters across bag in future?

foxessocks · 25/09/2018 21:03

sc toostressy yes I think if it hasn't turned up by the end of tomorrow I'll have to start proactively searching myself!! I don't think lost property has been checked yet as they said they'd search for it in the classroom first. I'm hoping it's just been put on the wrong peg or something Confused

foxessocks · 25/09/2018 21:04

And yes good idea about putting a bigger name on the outside of it!! I never really thought it through!

Cagliostro · 25/09/2018 21:33

Wrong peg is a very likely answer, from experience.

Rowan has had one sleep today of about an hour so I’m desperately hoping she will sleep soon!

I’m really on a high this evening due to how home ed went today. It sort of feels like we are embarking on a new era IYSWIM. We used three different textbooks - RE Japanese and English - and DS did a comprehension exercise pretty much independently too. And having friends round to learn with is a first - we had done a couple of group things but they were where the bullying happened in the past and it made us wary, DD in particular due to what she experienced. So it’s taken ages to get ready to try again.

We are gradually building up a sort of timetable, I don’t think we’d ever have a fully scheduled week as that sort of defeats the point, but so far we will have Japanese with friends on Mondays, and another friend round for English on Tuesdays before tap.

Enough waffling sorry I’m just excited and optimistic!

Need to put the last wash in the dryer. And get baby in jammies. I ordered my replacement bus pass and printed out some forms and some maths homework (they need a lot of repetition with basic skills). Also really need to start thinking of what to get her for her birthday a month today!!!

Bowerbird5 · 25/09/2018 22:15

I'm tired too. I was out with all the family and DDs lovely OH. We had an Italian meal to celebrate DS3's birthday last month and DD and partners travelling date. It was a lovely meal but I was tired when I got in at 9:30 so I went to bed. Nearly asleep. Might be something to do with a good merlot😃

Spreadingcudweed · 26/09/2018 05:01

Morning! Have been wide awake for ages (frustratingly) so have been creeping about, doing laundry.

Away today for a bit as DD has two days school hols end of this week and today usual half day so racing to wreck2 and dhorse (yay!) while we have the chance! So just saying "hi and bye" and flapping wings to one and all!

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/09/2018 06:19

Enjoy time with your equine friend SC
Foxes D's lost two whole sets pe kit in year 5 so don't just assume it's an early years thing.vloody annoying.as not done pe yet there's a good chance it will reappear tho...mine lost endless jumpers at old primary,I swear was a vortex for uniform there til teacher told me a lot parents too embarrassed admit they have another kids uniform and don't bring it back(wtf?!) but it was a hellhole with huge percentage of pupil premiums and mum's collecting in either trackies, pjs or with stuff best suited to a stripclub

I am uits dark
I want to be sleeping still...

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/09/2018 06:21

*up it's dark

And congrats on HE successes cag you have every reason to be both excited and proud!!

stegosauruslady · 26/09/2018 10:25

Oh God. I have woken up so very ill. I cannot chug lemsips or whiskey due to the wriggling unborn. Help.

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/09/2018 11:30

Oh steg what's happened lovely?is it a cold type bug?
Hot water with honey and lemon?steam if nose is blocked with Vick/eucalyptus?

I am contemplating running away from my life.anyone wanna come?I'm thinking Bermuda triangle where no one can find me!

Cagliostro · 26/09/2018 12:10

Oh no steg. Illness during pregnancy just fucking sucks.

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/09/2018 12:36

Bramble vinegar is your friend Steggy blackcurrents, vinegar and sugar so natural BUT takes a few days to brew to immature stage and a few weeks to mature but the immature batch I have here is working fabulously

Sorry to be late with the linkies, over slept followed by doctor's appointment with near miss with A&E- breathing really bad this morning, followed by physio - breathing is much easier now and on a plus note we have a possible asthma treatment plan for my asthma review when I am not sick so hopefully that can get sorted too.

picked up a few essential food shop bits, need to pop into lakeland and run a few errands but will throw a few late linkies at you - sorry it has been a complete mad one today!.

Ta da
Dishwasher on
Washing on
Quick tidy

Put ds down for his nap but then I stupidly decided to tidy up in dd room and disturbed him. Think he has finally settled back down but I don't dare move off the sofa now so I'll have to wait a while to do anymore.

Dd was upset going to school today Sad I think it's hit her she has to to every day!!! I hope she enjoys her first pe lesson I would think she'd love that sort of thing. (No sign of pe kit when I asked this morning but they said it'll probably turn up when they get all the kits out today let's hope so)

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/09/2018 15:06

They also get sooo tired the first couple of weeks as the settle into the routine of school the 2nd half term is better. Promise foxes Yep we have all done that, hope you managed to enjoy your sit down in the end.

Good news though her pe kit turned up in time for pe!!

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/09/2018 16:39

Yay for found pe kit. Ds is being logical and sensible and using it to tell me what to do Hmm bugger is right with his advice but he doesn't have to take such delight in it!

Off to put washing machine on, dish washer on and then run some shopping errands. Before all the cooking Hmm Can't breathe so well this evening my nose is bunged up Hmm

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/09/2018 17:27
