September fledgling roll call: Ready, Set, FLY....

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/09/2018 08:25

Yes this is the bonkers back to school thread. We welcome you to jump aboard for the ride. We are following the Fly lady system for taming the chaos (can't have anyone over syndrome). We are at various levels and there is NO obligation to follow it to the letter (we've installed a bar in the naughty corner for hanging out and relaxing when needed)

4 levels for flying:
Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks
Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

So ground rules, yes ground rules it is September:

  1. Newbies - we are a long running but friendly bunch. We try not to seem clicky but it doesn't always come across as some of us have known each other on here for a long time, just join the chatter and you'll soon be a fledgling
  2. There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

Linkies will be posted daily and will appear shortly. Until then, jump on board, enjoy the ride and there are still hammocks, sand, comfy seats, cushions, blankies and a full English on the naughty corner bar it is a Saturday morning, breakfast is earnt

This living room was so tidy yesterday 😭😭😭😭😭

Bowerbird5 · 23/09/2018 22:48

Mine hasn't been tidy since DD came home. There always seems to be someone in it but I am going to get a empty BRC and fill it. I am also planning to sort and throw two BRCS tomorrow.DH and DD have cleared half the shed and put kitchen chest of drawers in there. Table has been moved over so more room. Washing has been done by DH and I daren't look at my naice jumper that was in washing basket in case he didn't read the label and shrunk it. He has form for this!

It has been a lovely day today. I was hoping they would do all the top shed. I bet it rains tomorrow.
I now have room for a freezer! I too might be excited about this prospect as I am getting my Everhot in November.
My lovely chicken is behaving a bit oddly, jerking her neck. I gave her a bit of a cuddle and a stern talking too today. I do hope she will be alright she is such a little character and should be renamed Houdini as DH has erected more netting and fencing and still she appears. She never does it when people are outside so we don't know how she gets out. We have had her a few years now she is the last of the battery hens. I should have got her a friend. There is a chicken sale at the end of the month and I was going to ask the teenage expert to get me one.
Might ask him to come and have a look at her tomorrow. The vet shrugs his shoulders and says "chicken die" very matterfactly.
I have given away two lovely jigsaws today. The girls were pleased. I have a box for the charity shop. I am going to ask DD and DH to take it tomorrow. They will like that.

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/09/2018 07:18

An early start and my eyes still don't want to work properly Hmm Had to help ds with some homework as we both misread the task and it is due in today. I had considered running some errands during my lunch break today but I suspect a nap in the car is going to be a better idea. Blush

Hope you are all getting better starts to your weeks!

hills Ok, not old then! That does sound a lot like DP though!

My general plan for the week includes more running, lunch out with a friend and then a whole weekend of fun stuff.

Today however, starts like this.

To do...

Shower and swipe bathroom (post school run and actual run)
Laundry
Packed lunches
Make dinner
Dishes
Hoover, mop, dust, bins out (home blessing, cut down to make it make sense for me!)
Clean living room windows
Hoover cobwebs from living room

Cagliostro · 24/09/2018 09:38

Ugh very late start here. We should’ve started iPad work an hour ago! But I’ve just showered, cleaned the sink out a bit and the Caglets are playing.

Last night was not good sleep wise. Ended up on sofa with baby, she is definitely teething as she kept grabbing receipts (thankfully I’d already photographed them to upload) and ripping them with her teeth . So very tired. And DH is doing overtime today. Would’ve been a bad idea to turn it down as it’s at the store he is hoping to move to. Plus we need the money ATM. At least it’s an early shift so he will be in time to take the Caglets to TKD, it’s just annoying as I’ve barely seen him and I’m struggling a bit

We’ve got people coming to do Japanese in an hour or so, I love that I’m not too worried about the house, could be better but I did rush round a bit last night and do the washing up, so it’s not nearly as bad now.

Bowerbird5 · 24/09/2018 09:45

Resting my ankle!
Need to get up.
Going to check on chicken first then breakfast. Might do a bit of jigsaw then start on the BRC and planning to do two each day. Hoping DD will help in craft room. She promised 2 months ago but no sign yet.
Let you know how I get on later.

Cagliostro · 24/09/2018 10:15

Good luck bower.

Eek they are arriving soon, must get baby dressed and finish clearing table (it’s not bad at all)

SassitudeandSparkle · 24/09/2018 11:01

Morning all - I'm now off the antibiotics and feeling a smidge more human. Hoping that the infection doesn't return and I don't need any more! It was my birthday yesterday, I had a nice day so have stocked the naughty corner. Should have done it yesterday.

Have all.the.things to do today. Catch you later.

Cagliostro · 24/09/2018 13:11

Meet up done (we were just planning what to do going forward, as we’ve both done different things so far) all good. Still feels weird having people round!

Very unmotivated for other stuff though, all of us. Really need to crack on. We’ve just had lunch (I made a big veg omelette) and I should start some RE. DH not home for over 2 hours. Cagletini hasn’t napped yet.

foxessocks · 24/09/2018 13:56

Yum I love an omelette cag. Hope cagletini has a nap soon. I don't think ds has had a nap either, he's at my mum's today while I work she's bringing him back soon so hope he sleeps in the car a bit.

Ta da
Dishwasher on with loads of random bits that needed cleaning like cat bowl and mat
Towel wash on

Cagliostro · 24/09/2018 14:18

Ooh yes happy belated birthday!

Well Rowan is napping but it’s that sort of half nap where if you dare move her she wakes up. So we are doing RE on the sofa which with the Caglets being hyperactive little buggers isn’t working terribly well. But we really had to make a start so needs must.

KNOT NOT KNIT!!!!

Cagliostro · 24/09/2018 15:55

Well we did some RE got most of the first double page done. Including a mission to go outside with DD’s phone and take pics of some relevant stuff (the chapter is all about signs and symbols rather than specific religions). My enter key isn’t working on my phone so excuse lack of paragraphs. Feeling a bit blah and am now alone with baby while the others go to TKD. DH worked at the other store today but still don’t know if he’ll be moved there. Good in many ways, it’s even closer only 20min walk! But the days he’d be needed would mean changing sports club. And mornings bring their own struggles. I do think we can’t continue how we are though.

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/09/2018 17:03

cag sounds like you feeling a bit down lovelyFlowersYou ok?xx

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/09/2018 17:17

Happy belated birthday Sass! Hope you are ok Cag. Big ta da for today... joined a gym and went for my first time!

Spreadingcudweed · 24/09/2018 17:31

Just so everyone knows the lack of paragraphs is a Mumsnet formatting issue; your phones and tablets are NOT malfunctioning! Well done re: gym Toostressy Star! And Star to Steggy for running during forth pregnancy; that's amazing! That RE hwk sounds really really interesting Cag (us Catholics are big on symbols Grin). Great list Foxes! Hope HennyPenny ok Bower is her crop ok (anxious)? Great that your dad managed the morning at school Zoo! Waves to Hills Honu I've and to everyone else!

Spreadingcudweed · 24/09/2018 17:32

fourth not forth!

Spreadingcudweed · 24/09/2018 17:47

Apologies Bower just re-read that, and extremely rude of me to enquire after Henny and not about your ankle; hope it is feeling better! Sorry, plight of sick animals always gets to me! (Only time I ever cried listening to the radio was when Scruff the dog died on The Archers!! ). .................Speaking of which, the long-running Archers thread on here have been awarded their own emoticon by MN Towers, once they reached 50,000 posts! Do you reckon they would do the same for us? It couldn't be anything related too directly to Flylady I reckon, because of the copyright issue, but wonder if they could manage a nest or something (half-joking!!) WinkGrin

HillsBesideTheSea · 24/09/2018 17:47

Yep the lack of paragraphs is pissing me off. About to go cook tea. I SHOULD be doing all the things. I am actually going to have and early night. Hopefully they will fix the blooming paragraph issues because c&p doesn't work for links from a word document as I have found in the past Hmm Oh fucking hell make the enter key work again, not even a soft return is working either. bastard bollocking improvements for the sake of it. Seriously it worked, now it doesn't put it back put it back puuuuuuuuuuuuuuut it baaaaaaaack!

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 24/09/2018 17:48

Tbf we have probably had more than 50 threads over the years and a fair proportion were full so we can't be that far off. Perhaps we could ask for a broom?

OP posts:
Spreadingcudweed · 24/09/2018 17:55

Ooh yes, a broom would be good! Grin.

Cagliostro · 24/09/2018 17:57

I’m glad it’s not just me with the paragraphs! Hmm dunno yes a bit blah I guess, change in season is never good for me tbh. Finally got cagletini back to sleep, now do I move her into buggy and walk to Asda or do I leave her on the sofa and do a workout DVD 🤔 the thing with Asda is that I’d need to know what I was buying and I haven’t a clue. Or more accurately I have no inspiration for dinner. I think I’ve answered my own question. I’ll let the others do asda on the way home instead. Meh
