September fledgling roll call: Ready, Set, FLY....

Yes this is the bonkers back to school thread. We welcome you to jump aboard for the ride. We are following the Fly lady system for taming the chaos (can't have anyone over syndrome). We are at various levels and there is NO obligation to follow it to the letter (we've installed a bar in the naughty corner for hanging out and relaxing when needed)

4 levels for flying:
Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks
Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

So ground rules, yes ground rules it is September:

  1. Newbies - we are a long running but friendly bunch. We try not to seem clicky but it doesn't always come across as some of us have known each other on here for a long time, just join the chatter and you'll soon be a fledgling
  2. There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

Linkies will be posted daily and will appear shortly. Until then, jump on board, enjoy the ride and there are still hammocks, sand, comfy seats, cushions, blankies and a full English on the naughty corner bar it is a Saturday morning, breakfast is earnt

Dh definitely coming down with something, I'm not sure about me yet, my eyeballs are hot which is what dh said his started with Confused and I'm definitely getting a blocked nose. Fingers crossed it doesn't come to anything.

On the plus side dd and ds were obviously tired tonight and we haven't heard a peep from them since 7pm. And ds seems much happier today.

MsForestier · 15/09/2018 20:43

Zoflora collection elsewhere but here's the caddy and much loved brush.

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/09/2018 20:46

Just a bit thicky?I put sniffy but my phone clearly thinks I'm an idiot, and if cap fits guess I'm wearing it......

MsForestier · 15/09/2018 20:48

It's surprisingly soft and great at getting into thin grills I've but you're right!

SassitudeandSparkle · 15/09/2018 20:54
Cagliostro · 15/09/2018 21:41

I’m alive :o better than yesterday in fact, man that was horrendous. DD1 has been very anxious and clingy all day as it really freaked her out seeing me like that. I am well used to pain/fatigue/dizziness due to the conditions I live with, but this had the added nausea, tummy cramps, sweating/shivering etc. Ugh. It’s much milder today though and now I can eat again I feel ravenous.

DH was similar, baby is chirpy but still having horrendous nappies, and lots of extra washing needed 😷

Apologies for TMI. 😳

Anyway have achieved fuck all except resting and am supremely annoyed that it’s wasted the second half of DH’s week off 😰 he’s back tomorrow.

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/09/2018 06:11

Glad you are feeling better cag

Sass hope DD is ok

I have woken with sore throat......

Hope everyone's feeling bit more chipper today?!

foxessocks · 16/09/2018 06:54

msforestier I need to know more about that brush please! Where is it from and what exactly do you use it for?! Maybe I need one!

Sounds horrible cag but glad you're on the mend

Zoo hope your sore throat doesn't come to anything.

Dh has gone to work so he can't be feeling that bad although he did seem to be tossing and turning in the night and has taken painkillers. I wasn't very sympathetic yesterday so I'm feeling guilty now. Hope he hasn't gone to work when he shouldn't have.

I'm feeling ok so fingers crossed!

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/09/2018 07:22

Spreadingcudweed · 16/09/2018 07:39

Morning all!

[Lays out trays of freshly squeezed oj, melon, pineapple slices, and blueberry pancakes for all the poorlies.]

DD hasn't emerged yet but I can't say I feel wonderful; I am sneezing, and feel generally floaty and a bit feak and weeble.

Like Cag I feel completely frustrated about the time lost being ill!

DH did absolutely heroic work yesterday and our fantastic neighbour in the country very kindly rallied her friends, so he was helped by a team of four elderly ladies who appeared as if by magic, sang songs in Dutch, and picked apples with him and the furry in the sunshine Grin. As a result, he made it to the pressoir on time and emerged with 139 bottles of pasteurised juice. There are still some apples on the trees which I am going to make in to compote and chutney just as soon as I am better. Have a huge bag of quinces with which to make jelly too! But of course my preserving equip is at wreck 2: gah!

Take it steady Hills, Zoo and Bower!

Keep well Toostressy and I've!!

MsForestier handy looking brush there! I'm tempted to say "they don't like it up 'em!" Grin Grin

Sass hope your dd is ok and great that she is enjoying secondary school; I know you were worried about it.

Zoo hope your ds improves a bit today.

Car free day here so at least it's quiet!

Waves to Honu and everyone else!

Going to try and continue to work through my list ... slowly!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/09/2018 07:56

Oooh home pressed juice how fabulous SC how long will it keep now pasteurised?

DS appeared about 30 mins ago scarlet faced and panting wtf am I going to do with him/will I be able send to school in this state?!

Spreadingcudweed · 16/09/2018 08:28

It keeps for a year Zoo. We give a lot away (obviously) to friends and family, keep office supplied, and last year we gave a load to school for open evening.

Spreadingcudweed · 16/09/2018 08:31

Just seen about your ds. So sorry he is still not right. Sounds awful! I hope others will be along to advise; sorry, I'm out of touch about UK health system.

Stilllivinginazoo · 16/09/2018 08:36

A year?that's really impressive!SC

Spreadingcudweed · 16/09/2018 08:58

Dhorse in really good form thank you Zoo! (Breaks my heart not to see him this w/e but dh saw him yesterday and he is v happy with his mates.) Despite being warned a thousand times, DH nearly got himself run over too blithely walking in to herd with full tub of treats too but that's another story!

Spreadingcudweed · 16/09/2018 09:04

I know the frustration Zoo. DD put on a bit of weight over hols (which she had lost over 2 wks of exams) and is now rapidly losing it again because of flu!
