September fledgling roll call: Ready, Set, FLY....

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/09/2018 08:25

Yes this is the bonkers back to school thread. We welcome you to jump aboard for the ride. We are following the Fly lady system for taming the chaos (can't have anyone over syndrome). We are at various levels and there is NO obligation to follow it to the letter (we've installed a bar in the naughty corner for hanging out and relaxing when needed)

4 levels for flying:
Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks
Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

So ground rules, yes ground rules it is September:

  1. Newbies - we are a long running but friendly bunch. We try not to seem clicky but it doesn't always come across as some of us have known each other on here for a long time, just join the chatter and you'll soon be a fledgling
  2. There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

Linkies will be posted daily and will appear shortly. Until then, jump on board, enjoy the ride and there are still hammocks, sand, comfy seats, cushions, blankies and a full English on the naughty corner bar it is a Saturday morning, breakfast is earnt

HillsBesideTheSea · 12/09/2018 20:22

Nope, wasn't even in the house to do it. Thankfully this week I have an extra day for running errands like that. Didn't manage to get the food shop done either, AND now have to take a trip to wales this weekend to run an errand

Back and shoulder is buggered because have been working in the garden because older people don't always make the right decisions when their cognitive function is not optimal 100% of the time.

|GOing to have a soak in the bath for an hour before I cook tea, put uniform on to wash and well there is other stuff that needs doing but I think honestly I will just do the links and go to bed. Sooo tired. Shifting body clocks is a pita.

Sass meant to say Zoo is totally right. Don't fly if you are not feel up to it. Better to rest up and do as little as you can get away with so that you can recover better and hopefully quicker.

And again my brain is saying four hours sleep is all you are getting......

foxessocks · 13/09/2018 06:41

zoo hope you got a little more sleep.

Ds slept fine I wasn't sure he would. He woke up at 6am but just wanted his toy penguin it had fallen out he went back to sleep. Ideally I wanted to give him a dose of medicine before breakfast but not sure we'll have time as he would then have to leave an hour before eating breakfast and we've got the school run. But there's no way I'm waking him up early for it - sleep is good medicine too!

Dd still asleep too so for now I have peace and quiet and coffee Smile

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/09/2018 08:17

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/09/2018 10:48

hills she's having cealiac testing beg Oct(was on gf,df,low fodmap so need her gluten loaded before testing)but consultant suspects its most likely slow transit.she says a slow bowel can go from thin contracting tube to like "baggy old tights" with slow muscle contractions and it takes a long time regain tone.we back in November, and at that point will have the results cealiac and been on this higher dose meds 2months.consultants expecting to see more frequent movement by then.we can mega dose up to 12 sachets a day if necessary, but less the better although it may take a long time to reduce doses and still see bowels work.i expressed concerns long term laxitives use and she said it a fluid to bowel softener not a stimulant so won't stop bowel functioning by itself and chronic slow transit has bigger health implications...

foxessocks · 13/09/2018 12:58

Poor dd zoo sounds horrible Sad

Ds had two doses of medicine today now, lots spilt again but some of it is going in! He seems happy enough and not uncomfortable today.

Dd home from another morning at school. She's quite grumpy , tired I think.

Ta da
Dishwasher on
Washing on
Tidied living room

To do
Get ds down for nap
Hang washing out
Supermarket once ds had his nap
Cook dinner - sausage cassoulet

Could do with getting some more decluttering done today. Pretty much done the kitchen now, only a couple of cupboards I haven't attempted yet. Might do those or might dive back into fly lady and zones. Or might do neither more likely Hmm

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/09/2018 13:13

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/09/2018 13:13

Front door still to go....

foxessocks · 13/09/2018 13:23

zoo well now you mention it my friend did leave half a carrot cake here earlier Grin .

I've hung the washing out. Do feel pretty tired but I will try and do something productive this afternoon if I can. Ds asleep and dd watching cbeebies. Phew.

foxessocks · 13/09/2018 14:26

Ta da
Emptied dishwasher and reloaded
Took rubbish round to bins
Decluttered two kitchen cupboards. One still has some lightbulbs in as dh needs to identify if they are needed or not. He seems to collect them Hmm have got rid of our big cool box. We never use it we just use ice packs and a bag if we have picnics. It's too big to lug around tbh. Also got rid of some air fresheners because they make me sneeze and loads of rubber gloves because I don't use them anyway!!

I still have more kitchen cupboards to do (who knew there were so many cupboards!?) and then I should probably tackle the utility room which is basically a dumping ground still.

Dh has finally started work on our new shoe rack which is good news. He got some old apple crates from eBay and has made them into a shoe rack , looks quite good I think. But I'm not great with interior design!

Cagliostro · 13/09/2018 19:08

I have managed fuck all today
Cagletini hasn’t been sick again and isn’t coughing so much but I’m just totally wiped. I fell asleep on the sofa earlier.

One more day of half arsed home ed tomorrow (also got our introductory session of sports club) then really need to figure out what the hell we are doing from Monday onwards. Aaaargh
