To wonder how on earth DH has stained brand new pillowcases this badly overnight??

DH and I got home yesterday from holiday, and as a treat I bought a lovely new set of bed sheets for us to sleep in last night.
However, this morning DH has just got out of bed and this is the state of the sheet and pillowcases! He showered before he came to bed, we both got a bit hot in the night but my pillowcases are spotless.

Seriously... how the hell has he managed that?

When you say he had a shower... did he just stand under the water or did he actually use shampoo, shower jell and scrub (to get the ingrained dirt/sweat and dead skin cells off)?

I have found what some people define as a shower is different to others, but that’s usually children and teens not adults.

Justmuddlingalong · 26/04/2018 08:09

I agree it looks like suncream stains. If it is, good luck getting it out.

AngeloMysterioso · 26/04/2018 08:10

It’s possible, but we were travelling for 27 hours before we got home and he showered twice yesterday, once when he got home and again after his run in the evening.

I think it must be sweat, but I know I woke up at one point last night and was a bit sweaty, and my pillows are perfectly clean.

Mostly I’m just annoyed at having to change the sodding sheets two days in a row, and I’ll be really pissed off if I don’t manage to get those stains out. It was my first time in our 5 year relationship that I didn’t go for a “manly” pattern... lovely duck egg blue and cream! Sad

Does he sweat a lot during the day?

When googling night sweats for menopause, I came across male night sweats. Is your DH on the mature side? Can be a sign of testosterone levels dropping apparently or other problems.

AngeloMysterioso · 26/04/2018 08:11

He uses shampoo and shower gel every time, although he doesn’t so much scrub as lather it up and wash it off. I use a body brush with my shower gel

That’s my dh every night. Many pillows and cases get ruined. It’s gross

What is your new bedding made of?

Looneytune253 · 26/04/2018 08:13

My dhs pillow was like this all the time it was sweat. He managed to solve his sweat problem and then doesn’t happen now

AngeloMysterioso · 26/04/2018 08:13

Guess I should be glad I opted for John Lewis polycotton and not the 300 thread count Egyptian stuff.

Any tips for how to wash it out?

Does he have a shaved head or very short hair? My oh has a shaved head and his pillows have disgusting large sweat patches on them...I guess when he sweats there's no hair to absorb the moisture.

Tinkobell · 26/04/2018 08:14

Naughty man, make him wash'em!

Stormy76 · 26/04/2018 08:14

Did he get up in the night for a drink and spill it all over his face lol. Maybe he just has a very sweaty head that makes gross piss stains on the pillows? Men are so weird lol

Shedmicehugh1 · 26/04/2018 08:15

I just looked again at the stain! Looks like a face blowing a kiss!

It’s now reminding me of a crime scene and chalk outlines Grin

CommanderDaisy · 26/04/2018 08:16

It's sweat.
My DH does this to all the linen, pillow sheets, down to the mattress protector. It's rank, especially as good quality, naice linen is a 'thing" for me.

I think it's got something to do with not exfoliating skin properly - whatever it's caused by - I feel your pain.

PuppyMonkey · 26/04/2018 08:16

Ear wax.

Storminateapot · 26/04/2018 08:17

My DH's pillow is always like that, it's minging.

Shedmicehugh1 · 26/04/2018 08:17

Aha poly is your problem, it doesn’t absorb moisture. Particularly if not washed before use.

Mrsramsayscat · 26/04/2018 08:18

Same in this house!

mumonashoestring · 26/04/2018 08:19

I always buy pure cotton bedding but DH still manages to do this to his pillows. I don't buy plain/pale pillowcases any more.

AngeloMysterioso · 26/04/2018 08:22

I sweat too though, and my side is fine. he has short hair, not a buzz cut or anything though.

Looks like I’m buying him a body brush for the shower then. Those stains had better bloody come out!
