Im finding cleaning me house hard atm. I have a 1 year old ds and im pg so everything is a struggle, but we are moving in about 3 weeks and really need to sort myself out.
Whats the best way to start doing this, baering in mind i have no-where really to store boxes etc apart from ds's room.

I start with all the stuff on shelves until all you are left with is the furniture.

Leave the boxes in the rooms that you are taking from for now.

start with the things you dont use every day
be care full dont do to much

Firstly get a roll of bin bags and declutter. Then start with books, then ornaments, then thinkgs you can do without for a few weeks, clothes crockery etc.

Get rid of anything you don't love.Start using up food in freezer and cupboards and don't do any more big shops just buy what you need
Keep out just a couple of sets of crockery and cutlery
Keep out a few items of clothes
Box up everything else and stack it in the corner of the biggest room so that you aren't tripping over it.
If yopu have a car pack an essentials box of tea coffee nappies kettle snacks etc and stick it in the boot

I'm moving in three weeks as well. I'm tempted to just walk out and leave the removal men and cleaners to get on with it.
Knowing me though I shall stress a lot trying to throw cr*p out

How about sorting out the rubbish first? Get rid of the stuff you don't need, then you'll have less to pack. Throw it all out!

FrayedKnot · 14/05/2007 14:00

Start now - it's never too early. Start with non-essential items you can live without for a few weeks - books, ornaments, photos, out of season clothes, etc.

Leave the kitchen & bathroom til last.

Do 2-3 boxes a day, depending on how much stuff you have. Leave the boxes in the room you packed them in, don;t lift heavy boxes about! Just make a little corner & stack them up as you pack them, if you can.

Label the boxes with the name of the room they will go in at the new house.

Throw as much stuff as possible (charity / freecycle / box up for car boot etc)

HTH

Its made worse by the fact that we are going on holiday the day after we are supposed to be moving,so ive got that to sort out as well.
