What do you have between your mattress and your sheet?

I’m about to buy a new mattress. I’ve always had a mattress topper but it has lost all its fluff and become ridged.

My question is what is better, a mattress protector or a blanket? Do people even still use blankets under sheets?

We have a blanket, an electric blanket ❤ and a mattress topper.

Dd has the same on her bed.

currently nothing on me & dh bed (but I'm rethinking this) but dd has several layers it's a bit of a jigsaw puzzle lol,
it goes mattress, plastic protector, blanket, sheet, plastic protector, blanket, sheet. This means if she has an accident at bumfuckoclock I can just whip the spoiled bedding off while dh is cleaning her up and then out comes the pre prepared duvet and every1 back to sleep 😴😴

I use two sheets, a flannel sheet and then a cotton sheet. Both are changed weekly.
