Tips for keeping the house tidy!

I have always struggled with being tidy.. it's just not me! My bedroom growing up was always super messy - not dirty. Just untidy, and cluttered.

I am SO fed up of it now. I just want a tidy house. I love when it's tidy but I can't keep it that way.
I will admit that I am lazy. I hate washing up and putting washing away.

My house is very cluttered but it doesn't matter how much stuff I throw away - it always seems to be back straight away!

We put most of the children's toys in their bedrooms which I try tidy once a week. Upstairs is the worst, but I find it easy to avoid as I barely go up there.

It's downstairs that I struggle the most with.. I just don't know how to keep it tidy and decluttered. Every surface has something on.

Helpful tips?
Both of my children are at school so I'm home from 9:30-2:40. I'm pregnant with our third so feel I need to get this shithole under control ASAP!

Ooo and another thing I just thought of is have a charity box/bag on the go at all times. Sometimes I'm just sitting at dinner or watching to and notice something like a DVD or weird candle holder that I just realise we don't want or need so I just pop it in the box, when I have a spare few minutes I sort through a drawer and pop some bits in the box

Don’t have kids! Seriously, I find it really difficult too. Hoping it will be easier when we move to a smaller house. I’m doing a lot of chucking out as I pack & it feels really good. I cannot believe how much stuff we’ve accumulated over the nearly 9 years we’ve lived here. DD is a terrible hoarder so I have to sneak a lot of her clutter out when she’s at school. Good luck!

Thought it would be easier to change back to this name for the thread! I’ve also added a picture of the bags that wouldn’t upload before!

We’re very lucky to have our rent reduced by £100 as the landlord is a family friend. The amount we pay for our house, would only get us a 2 bed terraced in a crappy part of town.
But we currently live in a nice area, near lots of my family (same road), next to a park, bus route to school and also town, 5 minutes walk to train station and 15 minute walk to a retail park with 3 supermarkets!
Our house is quite big. We have 2 double bedrooms and 1 smaller, plus an extension in the kitchen and lounge.

On Thursday, myself and DH went through DS toys and completely dejunked!
He did have a whole drawer full of trains/tracks so we cut that back. Sold them on Facebook for £5.
We also went though his cars and threw all the tatty/plastic ones away.
He still has a little tikes kitchen, a shop and then toys downstairs.

We are hoping to do the same in DD’s room tomorrow. Ready for the full bedroom swap!
