Just moved house, little spiders in new house

Just moved house and it was left pretty clean but there seem to be lots of smallish (thank god!) spiders about. I hate them and am dreading the bigger fellas!!
With the recent hot spell we've had the windows open alot but has anyone else got the same and is there anyway of getting rid of them?

We keep getting spiders! huge ones, small ones, and the amount of moths that come flying through the windows is unreal, I feel like I'm in a nature programme. I was sat on the toilet a couple of days ago and a moth the size of a bat started flapping around my head and in my face.
I'm considering getting mosquito nets and putting them on every single window to stop it! I have three dogs which are absolutely useless, they just watch the spiders run past them. The moths they will chase but rarely ever get them.

It's horrible isn't it Emma. I feel like i keep walking through webs!

This is the THIRD thread about spiders going on at the moment.
Spiders in the home won't hurt you. They are beneficial because they kill flies, mosquitoes and other insects that carry disease.
Sadly there are some people who have a serious phobia about spiders, but fortunately there are a number of different treatments for it.
If you are not one of the unfortunate sufferers with a real phobia, there is no need to run screaming from spiders. Just let them get on with their job. And please don't teach your children to have a phobia by appearing to be frightened of spiders in front of them.

Sorry i wasnt aware of other threads as haven't sat and scrolled through pages on my phone to see.
Maybe i do not have a true 'phobia' but I am still very uncomfortable around them and do not like them following an experience with one when I was in Australia.

It was a genuine question as there seem to be alot more about than usual or at least in the house we've just moved from. I would just prefer not to be invaded by them in every room.

It's not really unusual for this time of year.

When I first moved in my current home I noticed a lot of spiders horrible black ones and those skinny ones. Now 6 years on we still get them but I guess I've gotten more used to seeing them around. I don't like them but find if I leave them alone they find somewhere to hide and don't bother me. To begin with I was waking up every morning dreading getting up incase a big spider had gotten in my house overnight and I soon realised how silly I was being and I suppose I just learned to live with them Smile

Honey I had a fear of spiders (from DM freaking out when she saw one!). Moving into my first flat alone that had been vacant for quite a long time made me deal with my fear: loads of huge brown house spiders everywhere. I learned to catch them with a glass and a piece of paper and put them outside. Years later I 'trained' EXDH out of his fear of spiders by making him Chief Spider Catcher (he wanted to be a plumber ffs) and he got to the stage where he would automatically catch them and put them outside without being ordered to Grin. This could be a great opportunity to face a fear and conquer it.
