What's better than a dyson?

Hi, not posted in this topic before. I currently have a "DC44 Animal" Cordless Dyson. I remember it cost about £300 when we bought it several years ago. I've never been hugely amazed by it - it does the job but I'm wondering if there is actually something better available, preferably cheaper too? Dyson keeps cutting out so think it will need replacing soon. Thanks.

Another vote for Sebo!

A Shark.

We bought one about 2 months ago to replace our Dyson and it's the best hoover we've ever had. It pulls the carpet off the floor. We had work done in our house about 8 years ago and I swear it got dust out of the carpet from that.

They're about £100 cheaper than a Dyson too

Ok. I'm easily led.

Which Shark model do you recommend ?

time4chocolate · 26/08/2017 22:18

My vacuum packed up last weekend and on the back of this thread I have got a Shark Liftaway (680? I think). Have had it for one week and very pleased so far. The 'liftaway' canister makes hoovering stairs much easier and you can change between hard floor and carpet with flick of switch, it also has adjustable suction. Was surprised at the amount of detritus it picked up from what I thought was a reasonably clean carpetBlush

Shark is amazing. I've just got rid of my Dyson Animal which was a complete bag of shit.

Wenchelda · 27/08/2017 18:23

Thanks all - is it the same model of shark that everyone is recommending? I had a look at the liftaway model that a pp suggested and I like the look of that one.

We got a shark lift away. Nv680ukt out of argos. It was £179 but other places sell it for £300 so a great price. It's one of their pet models so comes with an attachment that's like a mini version of the hoover bit that goes over the floor. You attach it to the hose and the lift away pod and it's. brilliant for hoovering the stairs.

We had a dyson previously and it had been repaired twice, 2 new brush heads and electrics and I had to pay for a new hose twice. (Apparently using the hose to try and clean the stairs is why it got a hole in it so not covered by warranty. We have a regular 12 step stair so not a massive length for the hose to go too ! )

When I hoovered with the shark upstairs I had to empty the pod as it was full of muck. It even had loads of shake 'n' vac powder inside. I last used that months ago so the dyson hadn't lifted it of the carpet properly. It was the same for the stairs, with the pet brush attachment it got loads of muck out the stairs too.

Really pleased with it.

Just got a Henry after having a dyson for years - love it!

My Shark is the Pet ultra light handstick one. All have very good reviews and I imagine the entire range are more powerful than Dyson from the sounds of it.

didireallysaythat · 28/08/2017 16:41

Thanks - I'm taken with the idea of a cordless Shark now !

thatdearoctopus · 28/08/2017 16:43

Sebo. Without a doubt.

Orangebird69 · 28/08/2017 16:45

Miele c2 or c3 cat and dog. I'm on my second now (gave the first one to my mum and she loved it too). I'll never move away from miele cylinders unless they make a cordless one that has a decent running time.
