Do you wash your bathroom towels with your kitchen towels?

Just that really.
I like to keep on top of washing, especially when the sun is shining. So today I had half a load of bathroom towels and half a load of kitchen towels so I threw them all in on a high temperature.

I feel like it's two different types of germs mixing though.

But I feel a bit silly as I type this. If I'm crazy to worry about this please let me know gently!!

I wash bathroom towels & kitchen towels together at 60 degrees. Of course it's OK to do that.

Ginmakesitallok · 26/07/2017 22:35

Ffs - what are folk doing with their towels that's getting them so "germy"?? Everything gets chucked in together with a colour catcher at 40. Life is too short.

LightastheBreeze · 26/07/2017 22:37

I love a good washing/changing sheet/towel thread Grin

LapCatLicker · 26/07/2017 22:38

Golly, I'm amazed we haven't died before now considering we do all towels, bedding and bath mats together with minimal detergent at 40. 60 if they've been at the pool.

You're all going to boak when I tell you this. On a 10 day holiday we each had 2 towels, one for pool/beach and one for showers. We didn't wash them (yes, all together) til we got home. We are all OK.

TeenagersandFurbabies · 26/07/2017 22:39

Bedding I do at 60, everything else gets sorted into light & darks then washed at 40. If I ever have enough towels left over for a full load then I do them on 60 but that's fairly rare. I use bio powder for most things but for the dark stuff I use a colour wash liquid.
I'm on a water meter so if the machine ain't full it ain't going on.

Topseyt · 26/07/2017 22:42

All mixed loads bunged in at 40 degrees here.

Can't be arsed with all of that sorting lark. Everything gets clean and we are all still alive.

Some people really must have far too much time on their hands.

Tigresswoods · 26/07/2017 22:43

95 degree wash?! Omg I've never put as hot a wash on as that. I scarcely use the 60 degree wash!

Wow!

Oleschool · 26/07/2017 22:44

I'm finding this thread a bit depressing. Surely there are more important things in life.

Like for example the pretentious song lyrics thread .....

Bumpsadaisie · 26/07/2017 22:45

I wash bed stuff, towels and tea towels together on 60.

LittleCandle · 26/07/2017 22:46

I'm another who washes tea towels with bathroom towels and even with clothes! I do separate colours from whites and its usually only towels that get done on a hot wash. almost everything else is done at 30C because its usually not that dirty. Our bio washing tablets get the laundry clean and keep the machine sweet smelling and don't upset my skin. job done as far as I am concerned!

itstoolateforthisbollox · 26/07/2017 22:47

Washing bathroom towels at 30 is disgusting, there must be all sorts of faecal bacteria and skin fungus all over them

Lookit, if you are covered if shit and fungus AFTER your shower, and your towels aren't clean anyway AFTER you wash them, you've got serious problems and need to do a bit more than make mulitple wash loads....!

Bumpsadaisie · 26/07/2017 22:50

Re "arse towels" ... surely when said towel is used to dry the arse, the arse is nice and clean because it has just been washed with soap/body wash and hot water?

So why are these arse towels all so dirty?

ThinkOfTheHorses · 26/07/2017 22:50

They're getting WASHED not mixed around

Bumpsadaisie · 26/07/2017 22:51

Itstoolate... we were having the same thoughts simultaneously Smile

Bumpsadaisie · 26/07/2017 22:52

I don't think I would be brave enough to select "95" on the dial. In my mind that is to be reserved for some truly apocalyptic eventuality ...

PlymouthMaid1 · 26/07/2017 22:57

Bloody hell I have reached mid fifties and raised two healthy kids without ever separating a wash load, using higher than 40 for most things or adding disinfectant or biological powder to the wash. Faecal matter and skin fungus don't seem to have done us any harm.

Passthecake30 · 26/07/2017 23:01

Ha ha... another chuck everything in a 40c here, everyone is fit and well and no visible crumb germs

BackforGood · 26/07/2017 23:11

Good grief.

These ridiculously OTT houseworky type threads seem to becoming a regular thing recently.
Are they been started by the same OP or are there lots of weird people joining lately ?

elQuintoConyo · 26/07/2017 23:11

I wipe dishes with my pants and use tea towels held up with nappy-sized safety pins around my fadge and arsecrack. How should i be washing those?

I have a full-blown proper elecric socket in my bathroom and always chuck on some toast while i go for a numero duo so it's popped out by the time i'm flushing so i can spread it all over my toast. Saves on Nutella.

I shower daily and am old enough to wipe my chocolate starfish properly.

These threads make me roll my eyes so far they roll out.

savagehk · 26/07/2017 23:12

I used to like doing towels on a wash and dry cycle on their own.

Kitchen cloth things for cleaning got stored in a bag and eventually done on a 95 degree cycle to clean them properly while at the same time giving the washing machine a bit of a blitz.

Bedding ideally on a "hygiene" setting

Rest all together split by colour.

At the moment with a newborn and cloth nappies I'm not so particular!!

ItsInTheDogsMouth · 26/07/2017 23:13

How do people find the time for all this washing? Chuck it all in at 40. Fungus? Faecal matter? We've lived in caves, wearing animal skins for longer than we've been living in houses with washing machines. How did we ever survive as a species if we are plagued by fungus and faecal matter?

ItsInTheDogsMouth · 26/07/2017 23:15

@elQuinto ...you too, huh?

becotide · 26/07/2017 23:22

ohhh you wait

I live with teenaged boys

they're disgusting. I'm tempted to install a sink in each of their rooms and lock them in there, dettolling the air that puffs out

itstoolateforthisbollox · 26/07/2017 23:23

you have teenage boys that wipe shit on your towels but you call other people "disgusting trolls"?

Get a life. And go wash your children!
