I would have an indoor pool

and cinema room

and would have a huge conservatory so we could sit out and enjoy the views down the garden

and loads and loads of cupboards so I never run out of room to put anything

We have sooooooooooo much stuff/junk

We are sooooooooooooooo not minimilistic

What about you??????

I am watching CRIBBS on TMF they have formal rooms like dining rooms but they don't use them

.

southeastastra - where are you roughly? I live on the outskirts of Hemel Hempstead, Herts. The whole area is getting really congested and the only new affordable social housing seems to be flats. I mean - if you can't afford to buy a house you still don't want to be stuck in a flat if you have kids, do you? I was lucky that when I was in my 20s my friends & I could all afford to buy a house, but since then the prices have gone crazy. In this town the average salary is £23,000 and an ex-council 1970s 3 bed terrace is about £190,000.

A dungeon to keep DS in!!

I kid you not!!

tissy · 26/03/2007 09:27

I'm getting a rebuilt conservatory (old one literally falling down), utility room, a shower room/ loo, a study/ library and a family room

HOWEVER it is costing considerably more than £20,000 and I am going to have to defer my retirement to pay for it all!

glassslipper · 26/03/2007 09:52

dressing rooms and also a very effective waste disposal system.

Roskva70percentcocoa · 26/03/2007 10:05

a heat pump system to keep the heating bills down

for me: giant walk-in wardrobe
stables and an indoor arena

for dh: indoor pool
soundproofed cinema with huge screen

for dd: her own huge soft play area

MrsMillionsofcremeggsplease · 26/03/2007 10:38

DS1 was at a birthday party on Saturday.

They had 2 swimming pools, (outdoor and indoor)and cinema room and a HELICOPTER.

That's about as much as I could glean out of him. I was invited in but couldn't bring myself to get past the kitchen as I was aware I was staring sooo much, actually felt a bit like a peasant.

MrsMillionsofcremeggsplease · 26/03/2007 10:40

The house is by the sea, so they also have their own jetty and boat at the back. Ho hum.

cremeggafoam · 26/03/2007 10:54

i would have folding french doors onto a deck area with low sofa seating and lots of lush greenery
have the garden landscaped with loads of cottage garden borders and a big swing. lots of native trees and wildflowers and a teepee and a big veg patch( looking like they do in the catalogues)
have an upstairs living room with views over the countryside
have a large wet room bathroom with old style roll top bath walk in shower and a round window with a view
have a purpose built high tec wireless garden office for dh made of reclaimed wood
have a ground source heat pump and electricity run from a wind turbine
convert two downstairs bedrooms into a self contained flat with ensuite for visitors/dd when older/mil when decrepit
have a small field for some pygmy goats
have open fires in living rooms
have a dedicated room for laundry and ironing with a flatscreen plasma tv
have a library room with wall to wall bespoke book shelving
have the perfect outdoor dining area under willow trees surrounded by rolling countryside.

also buy a small apartment in Paris for the odd weekend shopping trip/to rent out to friends

RTKangaMummy · 26/03/2007 10:56

TISSY you have £20,000,000 not £20,000

the real indulgance - a housekeeper

I only need £150,000 though and then £30,000 to furnish it - have done the plans! it buying the land which stops us.

TheAngelWearsPrada · 10/04/2007 15:20

the bedroom high up so it could have glass ceiling and walls ..love to watch the snow fall in bed ala barefoot in the park film

sunnyjim · 10/04/2007 15:21

okay really if I had 20 million - we'd buy a large plot of land on a greek island, turn it into a retreat centre.
we'd also buy a house in cambridge so I could go there to uni for 3 years and we had a UK base
buy a house in the countryside for my parents to retire to but with plenty of room for us and DS to stay too (so 5 bedrooms ish)
buy my brother a small house to live in /rent out as he has no cash at all!

(I think I've still only spent 5 million tops)

TheAngelWearsPrada · 10/04/2007 15:22

i would be living on a hill over looking the coral reef in queens land

GooseyLoosey · 10/04/2007 15:22

A house keeper

Taylormama · 10/04/2007 15:26

the biggest spa bathroom ever with a walk in shower cubicle/steam room thing and a massive, circular spa bath with mood lighting and a tv and an endless supply of clean fluffy towels and OK magazine ... bliss

oliveoil · 10/04/2007 15:28

A soundproof room with

FFS GO AWAY I WANT TO BE ALONE

written in red on the door

TeeCee · 10/04/2007 15:45

Hmmm - let me think

huge hall, load of storage for all the coats and shoes etc

downstairs loo

a chilled adult room with huge comfy spotless cream sofas and a massive TV and a floor to ceiling wall full of books and no kids stuff

a kids room with all their toys which was linked to my room and then to the kitchen diner (kids toy room needs to lead out onto garden, with big patio style doors)

kitchen diner would be vast with a breakfast seating food area as well as the diner bit.
The kitchen should lead on to the garden and I think I'd like a huge stable type door so I could have the top open but the bottom shut if I wanted.

Then next to the kitchen would be another room that also looked out onto the garden This room is for DP decks and records that could line every wall from floor to celing with one wall being reserved for all his computer manuals and magice books and tricks set. The windows would be patio style so we could open them up and he could play hi stunes into the garden for parties etc.

a utility room

downstaris loo

upstairs, we;d have

another playroom

a vast master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and wet room

3 other big bedrooms for each child

a spare room for guests

a big family bathroom

the loft would be boarded and light to house all our storagey stuff.

think that would be about it for the house

Outside I'd have a heated pool that had some sort of sheltre contration that could then roll back in teh really good weather. Poll must have slide going into it!

Wouldhave hammock at the end of it held between 2 trees .

Would have seperate bit of garden that had loads of play equip for the kids, a little house / fort, oh and HAVE to have a treejhouse for them. A trampoline, all that jazz.

Would have a little area for sitting with drinks at the end of a long lovely day under trees and between flowers and bushes filled with heavenly scents.

A hot tub.

a bbq food seating area that would include sofas as well as table and chairs.

a vegetable patch where I could grow loads of my own food and maybe keep chickens but I need a man who'll tend to deal with that side of things to coem with that.

Did anyone see Michael Bransons house on cribs, his island actually not his house.

Strike all of the above, i want his island,a nd I want it NOW!

TheAngelWearsPrada · 10/04/2007 15:51
