My Dyson is dead 😭Which new Dyson to buy?

I loved my DC07 all floors from 2005. It was brilliant, I repaired bits in recent years and it kept going.

But now it's struggling to pick up threads/ fluff/ hair from the carpet so after 12 years it's time to say goodbye.

I am pretty sure I want another Dyson - so which one?
I'm thinking dc41 mk1 all floors or the dc55 total clean (top end of budget really)

Anyone got any advice or recommendations?

yes I really did love my old Dyson

Grin at smug Henrys. I talk to mine.

I don't know the model but loads of my clients (cleaner) have got those purple cordless dysons and they're really shit so don't get one of those.

Squirrelfruitandnutkin · 04/07/2017 13:38

No cordless is too expensive and a bit gimmicky IMO

Scooby I have the V8 Absolute and it's great; I use all the different attachments depending on what I'm doing. What's shit about it?

Thats a different one to the one I've had the pleasure of using. The one I've been using (3 different ones!) runs out of charge after 10 mins, claims to be full all the time and when in actually works the suctions shit.

Maybe that one in your photo is much higher spec.

koalab · 04/07/2017 20:19

A few weeks ago fellow MNers persuaded me to go cordless. I ended up getting the V6 and it's brill. If I could have justified spending more I would have got the V8.

RingTailedLemurFan · 04/07/2017 20:37

Ah yeah Scooby, even the V8 only runs for 7mins at a time when on Max mode...which is one of the reasons I like it Wink I tend to do 7 mins in the morning, and then another in the afternoon (it takes 3hrs to charge back up fully. I know. Ridiculous.).

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 04/07/2017 22:34

That would work fine for me at home, as I only tend to do a short burst of hoovering every few days, but when I'm supposed to clean someones house in two hours it's shit!

I've got a genuine retro 80s Hoover at home which has got amazing suction. Henry's are brilliant as well just a pain to lug round.

RingTailedLemurFan · 05/07/2017 18:27

My Mum used to clean in a mental hospital hospital in the 80's, and when it shut down she kept the heavy Nilfisk vacuum as it was so good not that she used it much at home

Have you decided what to go for then?

PickAChew · 05/07/2017 18:39

I have a cordless. It's not great. Just handy. It doesn't even get all the way up the stairs from a full charge.

Squirrelfruitandnutkin · 05/07/2017 18:46

I've ordered a dyson dc41 mk2 all floors. It arrives tomorrow!

It would be totally reasonable to ignore working from home tomorrow and play with my new toy instead, wouldn't it?

It came! 😄
I've only hoovered our hall but the amount of crud it picked up was impressive/ embarrassing! I hadn't realised how broken the old one was!

I like it a lot! 😄

Glad you like it OP! Just had a quick look on their website and it looks fab. Did you get much work done?!

Squirrelfruitandnutkin · 06/07/2017 21:04

I had to do a full days work so ignored the kid's reading books and homework instead! 😳😄

RingTailedLemurFan · 06/07/2017 21:40

The kids are exhausted and it's too frigging hot for homework! Got all weekend to do that...and vacuuming...which I'm sure you'll be doing lots of!
