What do you have out on kitchen worktops?

We are having new kitchen installed this weekend. Its a small kitchen and currently have kettle, toaster, mug tree, tea/coffee/sugar pots, some pasta jars. Over by the cooker i have various oils and soya sauces on the counter.
I think I want to hide everything away, except the kettle and toaster!
I may not have cupboard space to put everything away...
What do you do... do you like things out of sight or like things easy to hand!

Mine is very small, but I have my convection oven, cattle above the convection oven traffic here also on top of the convection oven along with hot chocolate and coffee and tea.

Next to the convection oven I have my slow cooker. Cafetiere not traffic and cattle sorry, using dictation, that thing you heat water in. Begins with K.

Toaster
Kettle
Tassimo machine
Liquid soap
Radio
Tea, coffee and sugar containers
Microwave
Knife block
Landline phone

Luckily we have quite a large work too area so it's not at all cluttered.

Bluntness100 · 23/05/2017 19:23

Mine looks empty but it's a big kitchen

Toaster
Breadbin
Kettle
Tea coffee and sugar bowls
Coffee machine
Chopping board and knife set.
Microwave

I really hate clutter so although this sounds a lot it looks quite bare, which I prefer. I don't like stuff all left out, but it's still got to be practical.

Since moving to this house I've tried really hard to keep the surfaces clear.

We have:
Microwave
Stand mixer (which is too beautiful to hide)
Coffee machine
Tea / coffee / sugar canisters
Kitchen roll

That's it Grin

I keep the spices in the pull out corner cupboard but we have A LOT
oil, salt, pepper etc. live in the wall cupboard next to the hob so it can be reached whilst cooking. Utensils live in the wide cutlery drawer under the hob (real cutlery lives in a different drawer).

We decluttered massively when we moved and I've not missed a single thing.

You could try getting a small shelving unit that sits on the worktop, either at the end or in a corner somewhere. Makes it less cluttered and easier to clean.

lorelairoryemily · 23/05/2017 19:40

Kettle and mug tree. That's it! I hate clutter

Hastalapasta · 23/05/2017 20:42

We have this mounted inside the cupboard for spices.

Twinkie1 · 23/05/2017 20:50

Nothing at all.

Have boiling water tap, built in microwave and toaster goes in cupboard.

I bought a drainer that goes in sink so that's not sitting on side either.

Twinkie1 · 23/05/2017 20:52

Have cupboard above cooker which hides extractor but opens at front like normal cupboard where all herbs and spices are stored.

OnGoldenPond · 23/05/2017 21:38

Ants

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 25/05/2017 14:04

Microwave, toaster, kettle, knife block, scales and food processor on the side.
Tea, coffee, sugar on a shelf above the kettle.

We have:-
A 'tea house' with DH teabags
Teapot
Kettle
Knife block
Utensil pot
Kitchen roll holder
Nespresso milk pot
Nespresso machine
Toaster

On the windowsill:-
Radio
Candles
Weather station

Everything else has its place in cupboards, which makes wiping down surfaces so much easier. I used to have chopping boards, pasta jars, spice jars and cleaning products out, but since adopting a more minimalist approach, I am so much happier (my head can't cope with mess) and the house is easier to keep clean.

echt · 26/05/2017 10:16

From left to right:
kettle
butter dish
toaster
bread bin
stack of chopping boards
rack of Le Creuset,
mini mise-en-place
pots of spatulas and wooden spoons
MIL tongue in a glass of water
composter,
washing up liquid and hand soap
bowl of tomatoes ripening ( all year round)
The narrow window sills contain:
sake serving bottles,
chopstick rests
chopsticks
ornamental birds

I have lots of shite, but still plenty of surface, cleaned at least twice daily, and when cooking, loads more.

I like stuff.

PickledLilly · 26/05/2017 10:23

We're just redoing our kitchen and I'm trying to organise it. I hate stuff out on worksurfaces and we don't have much worksurfaces space. The least I can get it to is kettle, toaster and microwave then I'm putting a shelf up to hold the bits and bobs like tea and coffee pots so it leaves the worksurface free for actually working on!

PickledLilly · 26/05/2017 10:24

I would LOVE to hide themicrowave away somewhere but I can't find a home for it

BasinHaircut · 26/05/2017 12:06

My microwave is integrated into a top cupboard. Was expensive to do but totally worth it, frees up so much space.

I have kettle, tea/coffee/sugar jars. Pot of cooking utensils, knife block, toaster and fruit bowl and pile of opened post etc that I can't be arsed to deal with

PickledLilly · 26/05/2017 12:28

Ah, we aren't having any wall cupboards. What a good idea though. Microwaves take up so much space for how much they're used.

BasinHaircut · 26/05/2017 13:49

Oh I use mine a lot. Have a micro veggie steamer so use it most days.

CremeEggThief · 28/05/2017 17:36

Microwave, kettle and toaster on a tray, and bread bin. Kitchen roll and a vase on the window sill and fruit bowl and banana tree on the dining table.

Iamastonished · 28/05/2017 17:39

I hate cluttered worktops. We have a TV (doubles as a radio) microwave, food processor, kettle, fruit bowl and utensil holder for regularly used utensils.

I keep everything else in cupboards.

SaintEyning · 28/05/2017 17:40

Toaster, radio, nutribullet, kitchen roll holder. We have a boiling water tap so no kettle and the micro is built in. I am about to move to a microscopic kitchen with very limited worktops so need to maintain this level of minimalism (will be ordering boiling water tap as soon as we move) or it will quickly get out of control.

Ivory200 · 28/05/2017 17:53

Toaster only. We love empty work tops. No kettle, we have a boiling water tap. Kitchen is small so no clutter makes it seem bigger
