Can't get the smell out of dd's bedroom

Dh had to do some diy work in dd's bedroom, which involved lifting the carpet and cutting floor boards with some sort of saw/grinder. Even though the windows were wide open and I've aired the room every day since (this was last Sunday), her room still smells musty and 'smokey' (like a burnt match smell). There are no fumes in there, just the smell. I have frebreezed the curtains and most furniture was out of the room at the time(all except wardrobe). Hoovered everywhere. But the smell is still there.

How can I freshen the room up?

have you put the carpet back down? if so give it a good covering of bicarb of soda - it apparently absorbes the smell , leave a couple of hours or as long as poss and then hoover. Tried it myself when my ds was sick on the rug and it worked well - good luck!
