Miele brand - worth the extra money? Or which manufacturer would you recommend?

Am thinking of replacing my Beko dishwasher, it just doesn't wash the dishes, and I'm getting fed up either having to wash them by hand after they have gone through the cycle (this machine is just over a year old). I have looked online and Miele come up to being good and will last for years! Is this true? The one that I have seen will cost me £629 - obviously a lot more than my Beko. I use branded dishwasher tablets, salt and rinse aid. Shame that my Beko dishwasher is rubbish as I have a fridge\freezer and washing machine also with Beko and they are great (well so far!).

If not Miele what other manufacturer would you recommend and why?

My Beko dishwasher died 2 weeks after the guarantee ran out! I replaced it with a Bosch that uses just 6.5 litres of water, it has the cutlery tray at the top and washes and dries so much better than the Beko coped really well with all the Christmas roasting tins etc I am really impressed with it. Mine is integrated can't remember exactly how much it was think around £650 but cheaper than Miele. I had a Siemens dishwasher and that was really good too, also had an AEG but I wouldn't recommend them, it kept going wrong!

We had a Miele dishwasher that was around £800 and lasted about 6 years but to be fair, we had issues with the condenser from new and I wish I'd put my foot down about a replacement rather than letting them repair it. It had the cutlery tray on top, and was great in general. We now have a Zanussi that isn't a patch on it - the glasses won't stay in the top rack and it blocks constantly. You do get what you pay for, but if you do get a fault in the 1st 2 years, insist on a replacement. Our Miele microwave lasted for 15 years and I was devastated when the door broke beyond repair. Miele no longer made the size to replace it in the housing and the Neff one we've got is shite in comparison...........

My Mother has had the same Miele dishwasher for 10 years and it's under warranty for all that time. It has given bother once when something dropped down from the top shelf and cracked the propeller underneath. The Miele guy came out and replaced the part and it's been golden ever since. There are 10 people in our house so it's no exaggeration to say it's been on at least twice a day for 10 years. It's the only machine I would have for this reason. Hope this helps. Good luck Smile

Thanks HyacinthsBucket, I read that they test the machines for 20 years and wondered if this would make it a cheaper buy in the long run.

I was coming on to recommend you look at Bosch & Siemens. For reliability they are apparently as good as Miele but they not as expensive.

My last Bosch dishwasher lasted 18 years without a fault & I replaced it with another a few years ago. So far, so good.

Obviously I would be buying one from the cheaper range as I noticed they could go onto £1000 plus

I recently bought a Bosch iron and it's fab - expensive but well worth the money!

We have a Miele washing machine, previous to that we had two cheap brands that both conked out just after the warranty expired. Cheap brand cost about £250 and lasted about 2 years each. Basic model Miele (with more than enough adequate functions) cost about £450 and is still going strong after 15+ years.
Dishwasher is a Bosch and also still going after 15+ years.

When they need replacing it'll most probably be with another Bosch or Miele

I had a Bosch built in when I had my kitchen refitted 10 years ago.
Never ever had a problem with it ( touch wood)

Just had a look at Bosch dishwasher and the cheapest that Ive seen is half the price of a cheapest Miele.

Very dissatisfied with my Miele Washing machine. Put holes in my clothes, they have replaced the drum (eventually) but still more holes. My Zanussi washer dryer was fab - lasted 17 years.

Arrgghhh! My Mum has always recommend Zanussi, but I had a Zanussi washing machine and it didn't last like I thought it would!

My Bosch dishwasher (freestanding, basic model) came from a previous house and when I installed this kitchen I asked them to supply the doors and bits to put an integrated one in its place "when" it conked out. 7 years later and it's still going strong...

I live in a city with a large white goods factory (not Bosch) and the workers all say Bosch is the brand to beat in terms of reliability and cost.

Bosch.

I can't say we have had no trouble with ours but we neglect it outrageously. They are ridiculously longlasting and good.

We went to look at new kitchens today and the showroom told us Bosch, Siemens and Neff are all the same company but with different price points but from the same factory. We lusted after Neff but think we will save and go with the more mid range ones Siemens ones.

Not sure if that's helpful...

I had a Miele dishwasher and it was terrible. All sorts of problems and Miele wouldn't accept that there was anything wrong with is despite it not cleaning things properly. Eventually persuaded John Lewis to take it back and swap it for a Siemens which is awesom and cleans way better than the Miele. What annoys me so much about the Miele is they said it was our fault and we had to pre-rinse all dishes, use separate powder, rinse aid and salt etc and it still didn't clean properly. With the Siemens we just bung stuff in with a tablet and it comes out sparkling.

I've taken a leap of faith in the student let we're working on and installed all Whirlpool appliances.

Very good value for money (£300 for a smart fridge-freezer) and the 6th Sense washing machine is really quiet compared to my own LG direct drive blah blah washer/dryer that sounds like it's going to take off!

However, I can't vouch for their durability.

We have a Bosch integrated dishwasher. It's been used everyday for 11years and only gone wrong once when child thought it was a waste disposal and blocked the pipes 😷. Fab machine! We do run a cleaner through once a month now!

On the other hand we had a Bosch washing machine, fatally broke after 5yrs. We also have a Meile vacuum, which is 5yrs old and still going strong - stood up against the cleaner who was a touch rough on stuff!

Dishwasher is higher range model, washing machine was a lower range one. So it's you get what you pay for unfortunately.

Had both, had practically everything built in Miele and it all went wrong. Customer service is pants and expensive.
Had Bosch dishwashers and washing machines and they have lasted 15 yrs on the dishwasher and ten on the washing machine with no repairs needed.
Bosch is the way to go.

Wit - that was the attitude I had from Miele. Basically arsey. I was told by the engineer that I needed to add more water to each wash cycle - it is meant to be a water economical machine Confused. Then I should not use liquid detergent, only powder. There were other statements about how I should do things. My machine cost over £700 - I really thought for a machine that would last decades it was good value for money. Not! Even the door doesnt shut properly.

Bosch!
I left my Bosch DW in the old house in favour of an intergrated Miele in the new kitchen. Big mistake. The Miele washing machine is amazing but the dishwasher isn't so great. I wish I'd kept the Bosch.

One of the problems with the Miele is that the top basket doesn't go high enough, so if you put anything large in the bottom, the sprayer thing gets stuck and only washes half the load
