Morning All

Yes it's 4.16am Ellie has been wide awake since 2ish. Initially playing in her cot, then she got fed up. Brought her in with us, she wasn't having any of it!
Now watching 'baby TV' on sky channel 626 apparently 'Musical Sequences & gentle visual designs to create a soothing atmosphere for infants & toddlers under 3' ain't working.

shouldbe Are you still there?

JustIvor · 09/02/2007 11:27

Spies shouldbe running quickly away!

shouldbedoingthehousework · 09/02/2007 12:07

ivor I have now ticked off some jobs on my list!

tortoiseLikesItNiceAndSlow · 09/02/2007 12:30

Ive put a few clothes away. Not many though!! Really can't be bothered to do it.

JustIvor · 09/02/2007 12:49

at shouldbe.

The list for today:-
~ pack (going away tomorrow)
~ do lots of ironing
~ thank you notes
~ sort out getting the car to the garage
~ shower

Done:-
~ loaded d/w and unloaded
~ put a load of washing on and dried most of it
~ cleared the driveway of ice and our bit of the estate road. I wish neighbours would do a bit as well!
~ walked the dog

Dd rang from school to say that they'll be home from school shortly as it is closing early and they'll need lunch as they aren't having it in school. Ho hum. I need to get myself cracking.

shouldbedoingthehousework · 09/02/2007 13:33

ivor and luda sounds as though you're getting snowed in! My brother has left work and says all the roads in and out of Lampeter are almost impassable now! We've had steady snow all day but it's only started to settle in the last hour or two.

My list is looking better -

washing x2 1 done 2nd in
tumble drying doing
dw, empty and reload done
clear kitchen table done
make beds done
hoover upstairs
hoover downstairs done
dust downstairs done
hoover sofa and plump up cushions done
empty kitchen compost done
make nice lunch with ds done ready to eat

So, once I got going I've done OK - still want to hoover upstairs and would like to clean the bathroom but dd likes to help shine the taps so we may do that tomorrow (no work- yay!)

tortoiseLikesItNiceAndSlow · 09/02/2007 13:44

shouldbe well done.
I have not done much today.

anybody How do I get orange/food staines out of bibs & clothes? I've tried 'shout', 'oxyclean' & milton sterlising tablets. Milton worked but was too harsh for ellie's skin.

OP posts:
shouldbedoingthehousework · 09/02/2007 15:32

EHM orange food stains are the worst! I always use vanish tablets and wash at a high temperature but even that doesn't always work. Ds has a favourite top which recently came under fire from some spagetti and tomato sauce and despite being washed 3 times it still has a nasty stain in the middle

Just got home from school with dd - half term now - Hooray I'm looking forward to some lazy days

shouldbedoingthehousework · 09/02/2007 15:42

Ivor have a great holiday

satinshoes · 09/02/2007 15:43

ehm - sunlight gets rid of a lot of stains. or could you retry the milton and then re-wash so ellie doesnt get affected.

shouldbedoingthehousework · 09/02/2007 15:45

oh, yes satin sunlight is a great idea EHM, I second that - sorry it didn't spring to mind with the current weather conditions

JustIvor · 09/02/2007 16:26

That is useful info shouldbe. We skirt around Lampeter usually. The roads doing that will be extra busy tomorrow if Lampeter is impassable.

Thanks for the holiday wishes. I need to get packed and so I'm off to do that now. Where does the time go to?

EllieHsMum Can I suggest that you don't put any tv on for Ellie to watch until at least 7am so that she understands that night time = sleep and no-one wanting to play and daytime = wide awake (apart from naps, obviously) and playtime. Sorry, I'm not much good at stains. I search the cupboard for whatever I've got and pick whatever sounds most appropriate. You might be able to dye it a nice colour if the stain doesn't come out but the stain may not colour the same as the rest of the material, of course. I'd not heard of using sunlight. Is that on untreated stains prior to washing?

EllieHsMum · 09/02/2007 16:47

Ivor Thanks for the advice. It did appear in my weary mind like a good idea at the time, there just wasnt any signs of sleep in her at all. I know you are right, it doesn't send the right signals. The crafty we might she is will think 'haha, I'll wake mummy next time because she lets me play
Have a fabby holiday & thanks again its always very much appreciated

OP posts:
EllieHsMum · 09/02/2007 16:53

satin Sunlight I never heard of that..can you buy it in most supermarkets?
shouldbe thanks for the tip.

Not done much more so far:
wash & dress ellie done
shower & dress me done
breakfast for both done
make bed done
change cots sheets done
s & s bathroom
general tidy upstairs done
hoover upstairs
s & s downstairs loo done
mop floors downstairs done
s & s kitchen
load, on & empty dw done
wash&sterilise ellies bowls/bottles etc done
Supermarket done
lunch for both done
1 pink wash done
1 white wash done
1 dark wash
1 light wash in wm now
general tidy downstairs
pink load in td done
white load in td done
Ironing(carried forward from wed)
Book dental appointment(carried forward previously)

Ellie is knackered but will not go for a nap. So it will be a very early bath for her about 530/600 her supper then bed.
