Can someone PLEASE recommend me a good vacuum cleaner?!

Currently using a newish Vax, bought just over a year ago in the factory sale and its shit!

I've cleaned the filter and had a look to see if the pipes are clogged but all seems fine and it just doesn't pick much up!

After getting my new glasses, I can REALLY see how disgusting my carpets are (my eyesight is seriously bad, without the glasses I was in blissful ignorance of quite how grim the carpets were!)

I shall attach post hoovering pictures just to show you the level of crapness that is my Vax!

Can anyone recommend me a really REALLY good Hoover? We live in a small 2 bed upper floor flat, would like someone light with different attachments that can get right into the corners where all the grime has built up. Budget isn't great, about £150 but would be willing to go higher for something that isn't crap and will leave my carpets nice and clean!

Sonia I'm so wary about getting another Vax, the one I have now looks similar to yours but has never been the best vacuum! Obviously mine is an older model though.

Ernest I think you've pushed me in favour of Bosch, I need to bite the bullet and just order it otherwise I will spend hours going backwards and forwards and never get either!

Miele cat and dog - absolutely brilliant. I had a Bosch before, and it beats it hands down.

Also, I bloody HATE Bosch.

I have had so many problems with a dishwasher I bought from them that was giving me electric shocks!, and their customer service was shocking. (John Lewis, on the other hand, were brilliant). The customer service assistant at John Lewis said to me - and I quote - "Bosch don't do goodwill gestures".

I'm about to redo my kitchen, and their attitude has ensured that I will be avoiding ALL of their products!

I have a Miele C3 and it's amazing. I was doubtful about getting a bagged vacuum in 2016 but the bags are really easy to insert, completely self-contained (no dust cloud when emptying) and last me about 10 vacuums of a 1 bed flat. It never loses power, has never inexplicably stopped working, long cord (I can do 4 rooms from one plug). It's love

Sebo Felix....sucks like nobody's business. Don't get a bagless vacuum if you want proper suction!

Well, a few people have recommended you a Sebo but you seem to be ignoring them so I'll say it again - SEBO Felix!!!

Btw, I tried out a Miele cat and dog in someone else's house as that was also a hoover I had strongly considered but Im really glad I got the Sebo.

Thought I would come and update, I decided to go for the Bosch Athlet and it arrived today (paid for speedy delivery!) and it is AMAZING!

Haven't gotten round to doing the bedroom yet because the full clothes airer is in the way but the hallway carpet looks new! There was loads of dark grey dust right in the skirting boards which is now gone. I actually sat and watched DP Hoover the stairs and it was soooo satisfying Grin

Thanks so much for all the suggestions, let's just hope I keep up my nice tidy regime now I have a Hoover that WORKS!
