ikea delivery. any good?

Decided to get a pax wardrobe with accessories, draws etc. for the girls room as it seems to be a great storage and organisation solution from what I've seen and researched. Seems to last as well.

However, the ikea customer service and delivery reviews are causing me great doubt. I'm worried it will take forever to turn up, that it won't turn up and/or that because I'll have a fair few items (frame, doors, small draws, large draws, shelves etc.) that something is bound to be missing!

Anyone with delivery experience and do you recommend?

I really hope they aren't as bad as I've read as I don't think I'll find a better storage solution elsewhere!

I ordered furniture instote when i moved as theres no way i could have got it home alone. Paid £35 and i came 9.30am next day. 2 blokes carried it all in and put it in the rooms i wanted.
Honestly couldnt fault them

We found it good too. We were given a day and it turned up early. 2 burly blokes.

However we were warned at purchase in store that they couldn't bring stuff upstairs. Fair enough really, as it's a tough old job. But double check that if you have no other way of getting them upstairs.

I've used delivery a few times, it does take longer than I thought it would, and they've always been late (think 9:30pm for a latest 7:30pm delivery) - but it's always arrived, and it's been in good condition, and missing no more bits than if I'd been and got it myself.

I have used them many times because we don't have a big car. They are quite good as long as you don't need to ring customer service. If we do the shop saturday morning, we can get delivery saturday afternoon.

We get half day slot but we are very close to a ikea. They missed our mattress in our last delivery. The guy rang back and they got it on the next truck for that same saturday afternoon.

We've had a lot delivered and been happy with the service.

My experience with them has been awful. They outsource the delivery and then wash their hands of it, so you can't take someone else's recommendation unless they live in your area.

That said, in the long run, it's worth the headache because the furniture is so cheap and reliable. So go into it with open eyes and you'll be fine.

We used it once for some armchairs, and they were really good. We did hesitate after reading about people who had had problems with them, but we really didn't.

I had a Pax system delivered by them. They turned up when they said they would. I'd use them again if I needed to.

We had a load of beds and wardrobes delivered and the chaos kindly took everything upstairs for me too. It all went wrong when one of them said he had used the toilet but it wouldn't flush and I had to tell him that seeing as the place was (quite obviously) a building site and we hadn't moved in yet, the water wasn't on.
So we got a non standard delivery of a log.

We've used the delivery service twice and wouldn't hesitate to use it again. Once it was next day delivery and the second time it came within 48 hours.

That's from shopping in store and arranging delivery there and then now, I'm not sure how good they are at delivering online orders.

I was assistant manager in an IKEA store (customer service dept) the delivery company will be different depending on which store. As some one previously stated they are subs

Normally I'd find stories on that subject rather comical but this? No! My deepest sympathies!

We had no problems with Ikea delivery for DS's nursery furniture but the vans load up in reverse order and start delivering furthest away from their base and drive back towards ikea, ifyswim.

We got a call at 7.45 on a Sunday morning to say that the van would be with us in 10 minutes and turned up in 5! We're a good 40 minutes' drive from the branch though, which explains it. DH's ability to get up and into his trousers that morning was something to behold. They would only put the flat pack into the hall though, not into the rooms we needed them in (upstairs) but that's fairly common.

We had a kitchen delivered. IIR they were very good, no missing bits at all. I'd go with them and hope they don't additionally deliver a log!

We ordered in store & had no problems with delivery. I found ordering in store great as they were able to help with tricky bits ie if you have bolt on doors, the door hinges can cause a problem with low shelves so a basket worked better on lowest level.

Should mention that return & replacement was a nightmare (wrong colour sent by customer service so needed a third delivery). But we only needed that due to incorrect order at start (DH!!!!).

We use the in store delivery and not the online one which takes forever.
In store , they can also pick it up from the aisles for an extra 15 pounds. Well worth it for a wardrobe set. The counter closes at 6 or 7 usually so make sure you have enough time.

I had my entire flats furniture delivered from IKEA, I was very pleased with the service, I live in a first floor flat and they brought it all upstairs no problem.

Decided to get an IKEA delivery as I wanted to order two tall PAX wardrobes, a BESTA TV unit, a MALM dressing table and two bedside tables, and the accessories to go with them. Doors, drawers etc. Too big an order for the car. The TV unit is being suspended between the PAX wardrobes, and critical to the assembly of the units. An order was placed on-line for just over £800 which included pick and delivery. One small item I wanted was out of stock, and subsequently could not be ordered. A thank you email was immediately dispatched on completion. Oh no; the delivery date is fifteen days away, and my bedroom is furniture less, with clothes from the previous wardrobes all over the house. I was expecting a couple of days. I do shift work, and took a day off work for the delivery as IKEA would not change the date. Two days prior to the delivery, an email was received informing me a new delivery date has been changed, due to an ‘out of stock’ item. I rang IKEA and explained to them, there system does not allow the purchasing of ‘out of stock’ items, and they have sold my TV unit. A very professional ‘call centre’ reply was there must be a glitch in the system, which cannot be explained. Delivery was delayed by another six days, to await the TV unit to be delivered to their warehouse. I told IKEA I was on night shift and would be asleep until 4pm, and requested a delivery after this time. On the delivery day, I received a call from the ‘sub contracted’ delivery guys five minutes prior to their arrival, just after midday. So much for my ‘after 4pm’ delivery request. Delivery was fantastic, no hiccups, and taken upstairs. The next day I checked the delivery, and the TV unit was not there. I rang IKEA and was informed them of this, and was told the TV unit was being delivered by Parcel Force five days later, as there is no stock in the warehouse. I informed IKEA’s professional ‘call centre’ person, the reason for the change in delivery date, was caused by an ‘out of stock’ item and I had to take a day’s holiday for the initial delivery. Our very British reply was ‘I can only apologise’. I told IKEA I am working on the re-re-scheduled date, and was told Parcel Force could deliver to my neighbours. My neighbours are in their eighties, and not able to lift a 12kg parcel upstairs. We shall see how we go about collecting a 12kg parcel from post office next week on my next day off. In future, I shall do several trips and get everything in one day. PS, the TV unit is available at my local IKEA, puzzling.
