Tips for getting dust out of the back of a radiator anyone?

Seems like there should be a separate Hoover attachment for it as none of the standard ones are suitable.

Long handled duster

Would one of the little rollers on the long metal handle for painting help?

I've blown mine out with a hairdryer before.

You can get a radiator brush from Lakeland.....works a treat!

Lakeland do a long tapered brush for exactly this. It's amazing according to DH. He spent a long time telling me about how great it was. Best birthday present he ever asked for

Some of it in the kitchen radiators is gross and greasy from being there for a while so might be a bit sticky and difficult to get out.

Don't judge me! I have recently become a SAHM and it never occurred to me to clean down there when I was working!

What about in the grid part of the radiator at the top?

We have a couple of v grimy ones where we retired and the dust sheets weren't tight enough over a couple of the radiators. Seems impossible to shift...

Mine are way too close to the wall to fit in a massive duster head!

Thanks for the tips everyone, I tried with the duster I already had this morning and although it got most out there, infuriatingly, is still a bit left in. I think I might have to invest in the Lakeland one because now it's driving me mad!

I blasted my double panel radiators with the concentrator nozzle on my steamer and it looked like dozens of small furry animals were running for their lives. Quite a sight! Obviously might leave walls wet if you did it behind, but for dust inside the radiator it works a treat!

Thanks emsyj, i have some radiators with tiny corrugated bits at an awkward angle that I won't be able to get any duster or cloth down so will be trying that one!

If anyone is also looking for solutions I have just bought this today and it's great! A total steal at £3 too! You can bend it too to get in all of the awkward to reach places. Just did the one today but tomorrow will be designated radiator cleaning day!

Your best bet would be to purchase a radiator brush this will easily be able to get down the back of the radiator and give it a good clean.

I brought the Lakeland one last week after reading about it on here. Brilliant couldn't believe the crap that came out. Also worth mentioning the house smells nicer when the heating comes on especially as I then wiped over rads with zoflora. Took me a whole day but def a job worth doing !!

Lol I just brought a job lot from Amazon. It's true though have u ever noticed when the heating first goes on there's a stale smell. It was so therapeutic lol I also did all the pipes etc. Really made a difference to the rooms and defiantly a job I'll be doing at the end of every summer. Word of warning though it makes a right mess so don't bother polishing any rooms or hoovering before hand as the dust flies everywhere. And fling the windows open !!!

I used one of those air things for blowing up camp beds. Worked brilliantly but had to clean ceiling

Mcchicken you were right about the stale smell, I hadn't even noticed before but the living room radiator was on when I was cleaning it and I could smell it. I rubbed it down with the Twilight Garden Zoflora, first time I have used it and think it smells horrible will have to do it again tomorrow with Lavender!

Haven't smelled that one. I wouldn't worry I'm sure the fragrance fades pretty quick. An ex bf used to be obsessed with dusk on light bulbs. He said he could smell the dust. But anyway doing the rads was def the best seasonal job around the house Iv ever done so well done for starting the thread !

Sorry that's DUST not DUSK. Does dusk even have a smell
