Recommendations for where to buy good quality cotton bedlinen please

I usually find things that I like in John Lewis, but I need a new set of bedlinen and they didn't have anything suitable in stock. I had a look at The White Company, but I didn't really like anything there either. Any other recommendations? It has to be pure cotton, preferably with a reasonably high thread count, not a mix. TIA

What sort of thing are you looking for?Does it have to be patterned or plain?

bran · 03/02/2007 19:41

I prefer mostly white with some sort of pattern on it, preferably a blue pattern. Not flowers though, the last one I bought was white with very thin, wavy, blue lines on it.

Actually, personally I prefer all white, and I did buy a lovely set with pin-tucked lines sewn into it. But dh isn't keen on all white as it reminds of hospitals, and it's only fair that he gets some say as he has to sleep in bed too.

my DH doesnt like all white either so we compromised and got the flora one from feather and black (basically white with some black flowers n!)

This one is appealing, but a little old-fashioned for our modern flat.

Fab thanks fiofio and swifterella. I quite like this from Christys and this from Feather and Black.

I had forgotten about Ikea Ceolas, but I bought a set from them about a decade ago, and while it was ok it wasn't a high thread count.

these are lovely and an ethical buy too - more designs and colours available. MIL gave us this one for Christmas.

Ceolas · 03/02/2007 20:09

We have bought a couple of sets in the last year. Not sure about the thread count, but they do feel thick and crisp when you put them on

peacock blue do some nice stuff

swifterella · 03/02/2007 20:57

our friend designs their linen, william is the name of a friends little boy i think?

JanH · 03/02/2007 21:13

You could try Boundary Mill (there's one at Romford, is that anywhere near you, bran?) and also TKMaxx have some nice bedding sometimes, but choice is a bit random!

JanH · 03/02/2007 21:16

(I have a lovely Sheridan set from Boundary Mill - sheets/pillowcases are white with a wide-spaced narrow blue stripe, top of duvet cover is dark blue/white Prince of Wales check) (and Sheridan are Australian )

milge · 03/02/2007 22:05

And So to Bed used to do lovely bedlinen, could be worth a look.

sahmtotwo · 03/02/2007 22:51

The White Company do some fantastc stuff as well. Sorry can't do links but google is your friend lol

Soapbox · 03/02/2007 22:54

TKMaax is very good for high thread count bedding. I bought some Frette bed linen there recently for next to nothing (relatively speaking)!

Costco have a lovely range of 500 thread count bedlinen in at the moment - plain white but lovely to touch.

They also have the most devine, 100% cashmere throws, ribbed in camel, stone and grey colours - to die for!

bran · 04/02/2007 14:42

Thanks for the recommendations, Romford isn't that far from me at all Janh, thanks. I'll definitely check Boundry Mill out. I've looked in TKMaxx in the past, but I've found that they mostly do double/king sized duvet covers, and we have two singles on our bed, but I'll check them out next time I'm out that way.

I'll also be checking out the other suggestions, lets hope I don't fall in love with something in every shop or I'll be awash with bedlinen. Thanks.
