Spilt milk - how do you get rid of the smell? ! YYYYYUUUUUCCKKKKKK!

DH spilt a whole cup of milk in DS's room the other night. Cleaned it up with a bit of a tissue and thought he'd done an excellent job. This is next to the radiator.

Now our whole house reeks of sour milk - so bad that I retched on going into DS room this morning (unaware what had happened). I have tried: soapy water, vanish carpet and upholstery cleaner, dettol spray, febreze...

My dad just popped in and said 'ooooh, cheese! what are you cooking?!'

What can I use to get rid of the smell - its horrible and turns my stomach everytime i go upstairs????! HELP!!!

I got a book entitled Vinegar 1001 Practical Uses which I was reading at the weekend

"To rid the smell of vomit or soured milk, clean the area thoroughly, then place a bowl of vinegar on the floor and leave overnight"

It also recommends (white) vinegar as a carpet cleaner. Brush carpet with a mixture of 275ml of vinegar in 4.2 litres of water
