The label says to use pure soap only or specialist cleaner(regatta isotex???) which sounds expensive.

I just use my normal washing liquid. The trick is not to put any softner in as that is what takes away the waterproofness. I normally, once a year, reproof with some nikwax spray.

Nikwax is easy to get hold ofand isn't all that expensive for the amount it gets used - a bottle usually lasts me a year.

And yes, for cheaper items, I just use a detergent for wool.
