Oh poor you!
ds is often sick, randomly for no real reason other than to make more work for me.
I always use Vanish foam on the carpets (usually need to use it several times though) for the stain and then febreeze anti-bac for the smell....A friend has some stuff from the vet (for sick animal odours)which she swears by so that may be worth a try too if you're able to get some....

There's some granular stuff which is what they use on airplanes and ferries, which sort of soaks it all up, smell and all, so you end up with a dry mess which can be swept up/hoovered. Can't remember what it's called, or where you get it from though!

bicarbonate of soda will remove the smell. Sprinkle on, leave then vacuum up.

I also was going to suggest bicarbonate of soda- apparantly it absorbs the smell!! TBH I am a mother of 3DDs and after the latest sik bug I went out and bought a carpet cleaner (Tesco have a Rapid pre treatment Vax (upright) for £90) BARGAIN!!!!! It did take the carpet awhile to dry but at least you will always have a carpet cleaner on hand!

Erm......rip it up with your bare hands and chuck on the neighbours skip?

Vomit is a hard one, I always use dettol. The smell is so strong and lingers for days but at least it is a clean smell and you know its killed any germs too. You need about half a cap in a big basin of water.

Hows the sickness going? Seriously think you should invest in a carpet cleaner,TBH £30 for a weekend is alot of money to hire one and with 4 DC I think it could be a very wise buy. Just make sure you have plenty of dettol and bicarb of soda and oh you have my sympathy( I really really dont like sick so feel for you!!) Good luck

You poor thing!! I hate it when we get bugs and it turns out to be a waiting game on who's going to be next.

MusicLover · 28/01/2007 17:13

Ive heard Bicarb of soda works although not tried it myself. But...Ive used salt water before & that did work-for the smell anyway!

Hope you all better soon
Good Luck

Sprinkle with bicarb of soda, allow it to be absorbed, and then vacuum or scoop up. Follow up with a carpet stain remover and rinse with warm water and a couple of drops of antiseptic. This is actually a tip for removing pet vomit but it may work just as well with human children.
