Is the bicarbonate of soda you use in baking the same as the cleaning product?

All 3 of my boys had a stomach bug over the last few days and I can't get the smell out of one bit of carpet (tmi, sorry). Looking at old MN threads, b of s is recommended but I only have the cooking sort. Does anyone know if this might work?

Yes.

Yes it should. I used to buy mega cattering bags from Costco as duel purpose cleaning/ cooking. You wouldn't want to go the other ay and use non cooking packaged as cooking.

No, I did think that might be a bad idea! Well I'll give it a go with what we've got in, and then can get some bigger/cheaper cleaning stuff tomorrow if needed...

Not to be confused with soda crystals or washing soda though. You can use those for cleaning the washing machine, shifting grease down drains, etc but cannot use it for cooking.
