grey stains on baby clothes after washing

For a while now theres been grey patches on my 5month old daughters clothes after I've washed them when there was nothing on them before washing. Its mainly on tops and bibs and is mainly on white but a couple of light pink things have them on too. It won't come off with stain remover so its ruining alot of things shes barely worn!
I have tried putting the washing maching on hot with nothing in to clean it out and have wiped any gunk out of the door.
Anyone got any ideas on what it could be or how to prevent it??

Banana always leaves horrible grey/brown stains on my babies clothes. Sunlight is the only thing I have found works.

Only her clothes? Are you washing them differently? Different detergent? Temp?

We had a problem with stains post washing recently. It was a cracked drum and grease leaking through. Hotter the wash, the more the stains set so far worse on whites or a hot wash.

Are you washing anything denim? Also do you take washing straight out of the machine when it's finished?

I've found that washing jeans with other clothes & not taking them out of the machine straight away can lead to grey marks.

Sounds like banana stains to me too, nothing there when the banana is fresh but goes very black over a couple of hours. Ive never found a reliable way of getting it out once its turned black :(

Can't be banana as shes never had any banana and its not that often we even have them.
I was all our clothes together with a colour catcher sheet (happens with or without
this) and non bio at 40degrees. I know i should start washing the whites separatly but it doesn't look like the stains are from another item. And I'm pretty sure its not happened to either of our clothes even my OH's shirts!

Will have a better look at the drum and check its not cracked.

Lavender oil leaves grey stains when washed. Are you using any creams with lavender in? Sudocreme had lavender in.

I do occasionally use sudocreme. I'll try and get a decent picture of the stains and put it on here

Its also only on the front of things. Can dribble cause stains somehow?!

Wash them with a biological powder. The enzymes will break down the food stains.
I know everyone thinks biological detergent will somehow eat their children's skin, but it's not true. Just stick it on an extra rinse, don't use quick wash and don't overdose the detergent.
I never bothered with non bio and never had any problems

I think i do use a bit too much detergent sometimes so I'll havr to be more careful. I did start off using biological when she was born but then she got a rash so i worried and swapped ( turned out to be a virus as shes had it a couple of times now) so I'll have to try going back to it
