I've just found out about this fab way of organising your life, thanks to a kind poster on the 'people who are efficient ' thread. I was wondering if any other MNers are Bullet Journalers? here is the website if anyone's interested.

It's only a couple of days since I started my journal, but I can already see that it's going to revolutionise my ability to be organised. I've tried loads of apps, lists etc in the past, but have never really hit on a system that worked for me. I have very high hopes of this one though (plus it involves pretty stationery Smile )!

This is my freebie MN/Vitality notebook...

www.johnlewis.com/castelli-tucson-ivory-a5-notebook/p1503489?sku=233682694&kpid=233682694&s_kenid=91e367f1-0f1e-4d40-9091-b4a5e795d086&s_kwcid=404x1156027&tmad=c&tmcampid=73

Not sure I'm keep on hte erasable pens either the jury is out... they don;t erase too badly but its quite hard to write over the erased area.

Will continue with them and try some of the other colours. Have also worked out that I can use highlighter to distinguish my two biggest clients on my monthly plan (borrowed from someone who used highlighter for each member of the family)

Welcome to the fold, Vistaverde! I know exactly what you mean about holding lots of things in your head. It's very freeing to put them somewhere else!

As for the apps, I have been constantly surprised by the fact that apps don't seem to work for me. I am wedded to my phone, I like techy stuff and, on the face of it, the design of lots of them did appeal to me. And yet not one of the 6 or 7 I've tried have made me the tiniest bit more organised. I don't really know why. Yet with BuJo I feel like a new efficient person!

And I must say, although the 'prettifying' of the BuJo has the potential to be a real time waster, I think if you just do it a little bit it can be a motivator. If your BuJo is aesthetically pleasing, you really want to pick it up and check things and tick stuff off. Grin at glittery shit.

Oh, brilliant. Thanks SoupDragon and Kewcumber, that is useful to know before I scour Amazon for erasable pens.

Hmm - Smurfing Coleto pens sound perfect - I might have to take a look.

That notebook is gorgeous Kewcumber - what a great freebie. Pen/pencil loop is definitely an essential isn't it?

Vistaverde · 11/02/2016 10:59

Kewcumber I have notebook envy

merciful that's how I feel about the apps. They work for a short amount of time when I actively remember to use them.

RainbowDashed · 11/02/2016 11:00

That's a lovely notebook Kewcumber, hurrah for MN freebies Grin

Re apps - I find it too easy to snooze or dismiss a task on an app. If you write it in a book, it's there, you can't hide it or make it go away. I have reminders on my phone for some weekly stuff that has to be done at a certain time (bins out, child at activity etc) which does work well for me so I wont need to add those to my bujo but stuff that's more fluid goes in, as I'm a bugger for dismissing reminders and then forgetting anyway Hmm

FairNotFair · 11/02/2016 11:05

This is working so well for me! I'm loving it.

I've seen some lovely washi tape on Amazon - it has the planets on it!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 11/02/2016 11:09

I'm the opposite with apps, I'm strict about not dismissing them till they're done, I do snooze them but I like the fact that it pops up on the home screen every time I log on till it's done. Whereas in a book - turn the page and it's gone.

BYOSnowman · 11/02/2016 11:27

Can someone explain what you do with washi tape?

Washi tape is a bit silly really Grin. It's just decorative tape, not super-sticky,so you can remove it I think. You can use it as a border or under headings etc.

Rosie, not being horrid, but MN have a place for that sort of thing. You need to contact hq. You'll find a link at the bottom of the page. Good luck with your survey.

SoupDragon · 11/02/2016 11:55

I think you can write on Washi tape too.

I have wasted the entire morning designing my weekly planner. However, as I write this on my To Do list for today, that's OK.

SoupDragon · 11/02/2016 11:55

wrote this on my to do list...

mercifulTehlu · 11/02/2016 12:35

I can't write on my washi tape - it's too patterned! My fineliners have arrived ! They are lovely. I've added a few embellishments with them but need to stay on track...

And again with dcs names cropped out.. Off work with poorly dc, I have spent the time creating a school holiday planner, dcs are at different schools with different holidays. So we have who is of when and what arrangements are in place.

midnightmoomoo · 11/02/2016 12:58

My Leuchtturm notebook and pen loop are here!!!!! Gorgeous, just gorgeous.......but far too nice to actually write in!!!!! Grin

RainbowDashed · 11/02/2016 13:01

mercifulTehlu · 11/02/2016 13:14

FrozenAteMyDaughter · 11/02/2016 14:06

Wow that looks great RainbowDashed. Fantastic idea too. I am itching to get home and have time to start mine now (with an ordinary pen for now).

Am loving all the organisation ideas on this thread.

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 11/02/2016 16:20

Hi all, please may I join? I think a bullet journal might be just what I need; I love a good to do list but unfortunately I keep starting new ones and they are scattered around the house in different notebooks, pinned to notice boards, on reminders on my phone and on emails to myself.

I have found an old notebook (must resist temptation to buy one of the pretty ones linked to on this thread), and added a future log for the rest of the year, a monthly log for the rest of February, a daily log for today, and an index. Am I doing this right? I can't work out if I am supposed to do the whole year's monthly logs in advance, or as I go along? And if you do them as you go along, where do you put details of appointments etc for future months? Do they just go in the future log bit? Thanks!

mercifulTehlu · 11/02/2016 16:51

Welcome CutYourHair! I do the future log first, then the first month's calendar and task list page, then launch into the daily journal. I don't set up the next month's calendar until I get to the end of the current month. All my appointments, events etc are in the future log anyway, so I can always see ahead to what I'm doing in future months.

I can see that if you were using your BuJo as a work one as well as a home one and you had a really busy schedule planned months in advance you might need to do a full 6 month calendar in advance or something, but I certainly don't need to do that.

CoperCabana · 11/02/2016 17:54

CoCoCoconuts I had the same issue, but after a couple of days of admiring it and stroking it, I have taken the plunge and it is going well!

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 11/02/2016 19:35

Thank you tehlu. I also use my dairy to check what day of the week a certain date is, or count weeks. I guess I could find or print a mini calendar in a5 size and stick it in?

midnightmoomoo · 11/02/2016 20:36

Oh dear, I might just have ordered some washi tape........I am such a sheep!!! Baa!!!!
