Are dishwashers brilliant ?

We don't have one .
To get one we wd have to affect the look of the kitchen as we can't buy integrated as kitchen door s wdnt match as our kitchen is not a current design .
Expense .
Lose a cupboard .
Is it worth it / a life changer ?? 😄

Definitely! Saves time, uses less water and dishes are cleaner.

Haven't got integrated either but happy to live with that

I couldn't do without mine! Load it up for overnight wash and in the morning you wake up and magically you have clean plates etc. I loathe washing up so for me it's a no brainer

Depends how many of you there are. Any more than 3 and I would say well worth it.

We have one bit use it max once a week. It takes so long and there's always bits that need to be done by hand anyway. Definitely not worth it.
We are 2 adults and 2 toddlers.

Ours is freestanding. If it broke would replace immediately. Kitchen so much tidier with one.

Yes ours is brilliant. When we go on holiday and have to hand wash I really notice the lack of it.

Had one (well, about four) for past thirty+ years, since early second hand Kenwood in late seventies. Brilliant, wouldn't be without one, saves time, money, kitchen stays tidy, but mostly because they really clean stuff.
Hate being without one.
You do need to be slightly careful buying your crockery etc, just like avoiding lots of 'dry clean only' clothing iyswim, but majority of stuff is fine. Don't use it for heavy lead crystal glass, not that they are everyday use, and take care with silver and some types of gilded crockery.

I love them so much I have two Grin DH looked at me like I was a loony when we put in our kitchen and I put this in the list. He has subsequently admitted I was right (doesn't happen often Wink). Never any dirty dishes cluttering up our kitchen - handy as it is open plan.

Yes - absolutely. Ours broke down recently and I was without it for about 2 weeks. For the first 2 days it was a bit of a novelty and then I became very irritated with the whole faff of washing up 5 lots of dishes every single meal.

Yes, they are wonderful. Avoid Electrolux though, you want a nice Bosch one instead.

Yes, wouldn't be without one, haven't washed a sink full of dishes for years. Even if all dishwashers came in bright putrid green with a picture of I'd still have one!

Definitely yes! When our old one broke down beyond repair, we went and replaced it the same day - my only criteria in Currys was 'whatever you have in stock to take home now'😄

Im looking to get one as well OP, Currys do their own for £159.00 & the reviews sound really good, although Im waiting to see if any get reduced after Xmas day.

We have a half size one, it's the normal height but narrow. Love a dishwasher it's a cupboard for dirty pots. It's good to have plenty of cutlery and crockery so it's easier to fill. I even like cleaning it. One day I will make dishwasher vodka but haven't got around to that yet.

I really, really want a dishwasher. I haven't lived with my parents (who have one) for nearly 10 years, so I'm used to life without, but I do get jealous whenever I see theirs!

We could definitely stand to lose a cupboard. Just need to get round to it...

Find it much easier just to wash up whilst waiting for whatever's cooking.

Sigh of relief at Day to Day's comment. There are 3 of us here - me, Ddog & Dcat and I would not be without a dishwasher! I love my Bosch it must be over 10 years old.

I find stuff doesn't get really clean when washed by hand. And I hate washing up and would never be without my dishwasher it's great.

Yes but you need to buy a decent one that washes well or I van see it losing its appeal. Bosch is good and I love my Miele, avoid Smeg like the plague (mine caught on fire as did my dads)

I've had one for 4 weeks now and I can honestly say, however sad it is, it has changed our lives!
Kitchen is always tidy as everything dirty goes straight in it.
No discussions or arguments over who is doing the washing or moaning that the other person has done a crap job (DH I'm looking at you Hmm)

I really, really, really love it!

For me they are great.

I put it on last thing at night and wake up to a set of clean dishes.

You still need to scrub pots and pans, but you can either do a once over with a brush before or scrub properly after the wash.

It's only me and DS now, so I end up running it once or twice a week.
